Are top quality games for the PC getting very rare?

I think that most people agree that PC games and console games each have their own pros and cons, their own strengths and weaknesses - and different people have different tastes, hence often having a preference for one or the other (or liking both for different reasons).

I think it’s a false choice personally. Like I said earlier I like good games and really when it comes down to it don’t care which box of plastic I play em on.

Exactly.

A fair number of gaming forums I've been to actually ban "PC versus console" threads - along with "AMD versus Intel" and "ATI versus NVidia".

Good idea, we should do that and ban PC vs Mac threads while we’re at it.

No because the PC crowd won that argument a while ago and are still gloating and pointing at the intel linux machines with a funny interface.

As for games that are not on the PC, well, Zelda Ocarina and Windwaker. Nothing of that quality and diversity exists on the PC. Truly massive games that keep you coming back time and time again and take ages to complete. Its that spark of originality and nice touches all over the place. I have found totally refreshing and it keeps me playing. PC's have been missing this since Duke nukem 3D with that shrink ray and stamping on aliens, Purple tentacles taking over the world and the 1st time you come up against the marines in HL1. Infact, apart from the fact that its a platformer, one of the most original and entertaing games i've ever played is Earth Worm Jim for the Megadrive. Product of a strange mind.

Since I got a gamecube, i've realised that the originality is still out there and am converted to Nintendo. I've been trawling shops for the pre owned GC games. Eternal darkness cost me 8 quid. Total bargain.

I have just installed Project64 (N64 emulator) and *cough* 'got hold of' Ocarina...

...now I just need to remap the controls onto my joypad in some kind of coherent fashion. :D

I'm sure you'll be able to get some kinda n64 pad to usb convertor. The n64 pad has to have been one of my fave pads.

Lik-sang or someplace similar is probably you're best bet.

I don't need any kind of convertor - I can programme my pad (or keyboard) however I want and save the whole profile for this specific game. I just need to work out which keys to re-programme/re-map to which controls. I just need to spend a bit of time online looking at the controllers and the game itself.

Don't bother with keyboard for Zelda OOT as you really need an analogue stick.
Best. Game. Ever.

Have to admit that last night I started playing Psychonauts (PC) not really thinking I'd play for long, but I've got absolutely hooked! It is fantastic. :)

Review (of the XBox version but its more or less the same) here and the PC version here

Just look at the abysmal sequel to the brilliant Deus Ex- most of the changes appear to have been made for the benefit of console users.
That game was shocking. Deus Ex is one of my all time greats and the sequel was so crap i couldn't even be bothered to finish it.

Tempting, does that come with the chainsaw controller? How about Beyond Good and Evil?

No unfortunately, don’t have beyond good and evil but do have the very hard to get hold of Ikuraga. PM me if you want to discuss further (don't want to get a bollocking from the Ed for trading on Urban!).:)
