Are Subway sandwiches as gross as they look?

I just have to ask… I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anyone eating one and on the occasions I’ve gone in and looked and must say there seems to be something plain wrong about Subway sandwiches. I mean, the combos don’t really seem to appeal and the fillings look plastic-y and overly brightly coloured. Do they taste as artificial as they look, or can anyone leap to their defence?

in my experience, and that of a few other people too, you can eat 6 in your life that taste good, then every one after that makes you feel sick. I quite like nasty processed food though.

ps I think that is why they have the clever loyalty card system, by the time you fill one up you never want to eat another sandwich so they don't have to give you a free one.

No more ticket, loyalty card schemes, they have stopped them by me.....

I LOVE THEM, much better than the pap you get in pre packed sandwhiches and other pretend luinch items...............
you are probably right, i got scared the other day looking at how much salt was in prepacked sandwiches, even ones that looked like they should be healthy. they have like 2/3 of yr daily salt allowance.

I think the veggie one is yummy. but then again I also eat most of my meals in a college cafeteria...

I like the meatball one, with parmasan sprinkled all over it with extra cheese.

All the other ones give me heart burn for some reason.

I've had some really yuk subs and some of the fillings are really plasticky but the bread is yummy and the meatball sub is great as hangover food.

It's just the McDonald's of the sandwich world. Support your local caff/sandwich van/deli before there's a Subway on every corner...

Subways have produced a complete and comprehensive list of ingredients in each sub, so you can at a glance check which is the healthier option....

They have a handful of subs which are 6g of fat and very low in othere nasties...

And thay are as a company fastidiously clean and hygenic in their food preparation.......

I would pick them over most places for a sandwhich:)

I had my first Subway in San Deigo because that was the only place to eat at Midnight and it was pretty good, then when they started to appear in London i tried it again and guess what?

IT SUCKED!

I beg to differ. McDonalds have a fine range of products placed at the fast food trash end of the market.. Subway aims at something above this and doesn't deliver, making you feel cheated and conned. :(

i remember in Leeds on Cardigan Road there was an independent Subway-style sandwich shop, that was very nice and also ethical i guess. those were the days.

What sort of place serves a sandwich with meatballs and gravy as a filling.

it's tomatoey sauce not gravy, they also serve the same sandwich on garlic bread now...I haven't tried one. Some of their sandwiches are okay, not a big fan of the breads they make tho' the smell is sort of sickening.

I'm going to have a footlong BMT on herbs and cheese bread, with sweetcorn, lettuce, chillis, mayonnaise and sweet onion sauce
