Are Henry Rollins spoken word gigs any good?

I'd gone for a romantic weekend in Vegas a few years back. Strolling from one casino to another I noticed he was doing a show that evening in the House of Blues. A great night was had.

The only book of his that Ive kept though is "Get in the van".

I was well into Rollins in the early 90s. Couple of sweaty old skool pub gigs when he was authentically snarly... and a spoken word show that was quite good.

Yeah, I don't remember them being classics. A mate of mine once handed us some of his poetry, one piece of which was a word-for-word copy of a Rollins poem. It influenced him that much, he reckoned.

In a word - yes, excellent. Been a supporter of him for years (90's gigs, etc) and saw the Charmingly Obstinate tour in Dublin a few weeks ago....he spoke for 3 hours and it seemed like 20 mins....i thought it was gonna be a politics but Henry Rollins dedicated the entire evening talking about David Bowie and Lemmy - his experiences with them, friendship and stories were wonderful and it was an honour to hear him tell them in his own inimitable way.

Remember to let him out afterwards. :)
If I must :(

These videos are the pinnacle of my 90s weekend having sorted all my Kerrangs into chronological order, now listening to Pearl Jam and debating dying my hair purple for a date tomorrow and wearing cut off jeans, para boots, PJ t-shirt and checked shirt to it[emoji14]

Pics or GTFO.

rollins writing is patchy. if you're not that interested in what henry rollins has to say about himself, it can be dull. get in the van is good tho and speaking about his mate joe cole is very moving. joe was murdered at the house they shared.

I used to think that him and phil anselmo were approximately the same person... turns out I was a bit out there.

Not really, I used to worship henry as a youth, and don't think that was such an embarrassing mistake really, he's never gone too far wrong.
