Arab League to visit Israel

That's right, the Zionist side. They've been harping on about 'peace' as a smokescreen for ethnic cleansing, apartheid and murder for decades. They are international criminals, mears.
they are only one or two levels below the Nazis as far as i'm concerned...bloody criminals

TomUS;

'Never' is the Zionist excuse for attack.
Then why doesn't Hamas remove that excuse & stop saying never?

Certainly, recognition of Israel is a negotiation popint, not a precursor to negotiation.
Again, why doesn't Hamas simply say recognition is a negotiation point?

I'm sure that they have, although I can't produce verification here and now.
That point of view will have been deeply buried by the 'Quartet's' three ponderous and dogmatic peace-avoiding demands, of course.

Every society has its Nazi-type contingent. The nationalist Zionist mindset, imo, presents a more acceptable face to its own brand of fascism than Nazism ever did. Criminals, certainly. More Palestinian territory is illegally commandeered every day.

Probably not. You'd have to back a Panzer over an armored bulldozer, even with its fascist dollar-fed driver.

Here's another Hamas/Israel Recognition reference;

Climbdown as Hamas agrees to Israeli state

· Negotiator says group recognises right to exist
· Hope for end to crippling sanctions on Palestinians

The sanctions didn't cease, of course, and neither would they have done if Hamas had grown ringlets and started cutting down their own olive trees.

Yep, the fine old Zionist game of continually shifting the goalposts for "peace" so that they can establish their "facts on the ground".

I don't think your Hamas/Israel recognition references hold water. The articles discuss the attempt to form a nat unity gov & a prisoner's document that had not been agreed to. These vague statements about recognition, none of which were made by Hamas members, were later contradicted in the strongest terms by Hamas when the nat unity gov was agreed to 8 months later.

Anyway, Hamas is on the sidelines now. It'll be interesting to see if Israel makes an attempt at serious negotiations in the Arab League meeting.

They 'hold water' in the sense that Hamas were, at that time, in the frame of mind to engage the Zionists again in talks. It came to nothing, sure, but 'talks ' with the Zionists always come to nothing, as VP points out.

You think Hamas are on the sidelines, I don't.

As John Mellencamp said in a song "if your not part of the future than get out of the way".

Only someone like mears could quote John (Cougar) Mellencamp on a political bulletin board. :D

Since when did JCM become a political spokesman?

Who are the supporters of Hamas around the world?

They seem to be turning into the North Korea of the Middle East.

Let's not forget that Hamas were democratically elected by the palestinians in Gaza AND The West Bank.
"democratic elections" are always relative...like everything else in the universe.

Fairly elected according to international observers at the last Palestinian elections. Better than Florida 2000 I'd wager.

mears;
Nice to see the children trying to work out their differences. Such news like this is nothing but positive.

I know you all agree.

You're not quite Peter Pan just yet, mears. We'll let you know.

The foreign ministers of Egypt and Jordan, due to visit Israel later this month, will not be representing the Arab League as previously reported, but rather will represent only their respective countries, Egypt's foreign minister said Thursday.
