Apple threatens bloggers again

Let's face it, we only like Apple kit because it looks good with our lattes and our "interesting" spectacles.

And we like paying extra because it makes us feel even more superior to the little poor people with their "thrown together in the dark" PCs with their tacky UV-sensitive power supplies, neon tubes and their pirated software.

And besides, we're all gay, wear turtleneck sweaters and work in graphic design. And have goatees. And chihuahuas.

I think that just about has the stereotypes and misconceptions covered :D

I think you'll generally find it the other way round. Go to any mac forum or geek news annoucement site and you'll be sure to see more than a handful of anti-mac trolls piping up. An Apple story's a guaranteed forum battle on ZDNet for example.

The same's not generally true when you go to a pc-specific site, not by a long chalk. I'll give you there are a few too many mac-o-philes on the general forums though

No. Your completely and absolutely wrong. I assume thats just what you see from the Mac side of the fence - right? And thats the real escence of being loyal to a particular niche brand.

Maybe its because you only tend to post on Mac forums that you see it that way.

Look on Paul Thurrots Windows IT Pro news blog, for instance. Possibly one of the most famous Windows 'journalists', he had some of the most prolific pro-mac anti-pc spamming I had ever seen. Neowin has zealots from both sides, and Engadgets blog comments are 75% anti-pc anti-microsoft and pro anything touched by Apple.

So im sorry, but you are just so wrong.

Nice spoof. But don't you just love the efforts anti-mac folks go to to poke fun at the efforts mac fans go to blab about their products. It's a lovely hypocritical touch in the whole good tempered mac-pc rivalry.
Oh come on, don't be so po-faced: that is funny!

Dunno about mini PCs (although this ugly thing looks cheap enough), but you can get outrageously cheap PCs now, way cheaper than anything you get from Apple.

This one is just 150 quid!
Hey, that is a well specced box for £150 (no screen though). And it's certified for Linux, so slap Ubuntu on there and you've got a well capable PC for the office, together with all the freely licensed, redistributable software you are likely to need, and free upgrades too ... :)

I think the MacMini is a great machine for the price actually and well worth it.

But isn't the whole idea of it, that it's an affordable loss-leader to help convince people to convert to macs ?

I guess because a lot of people think they're buying into all that stuff. Which is, I guess, an indicator of just how good Apple's hype machine is.

There was a time when Nike marketed itself as the cool, with-it, environmentally and socially sensitive company.

I must have missed that phase of their advertising.

Nike presented itself as the 'alternative' company, founded by young, forward thinking people. It located in Oregon, the ultimate granola state. Eugene, Oregon, became known as a cool place, due to its association with Nike.

Perhaps the ad campaign in Europe had a different focus.

Quicker to go to the Apple Store rather than spending your time shopping around... :D They also do deals on refurbished stuff...

Well, I just shopped around a bit and yesterday bought my brand new, factory sealed Macbook Pro 17''/2.33 DC/2GB RAM/160 HD for £1460 inc VAT.

It's fucking gorgeous and I saved £429 by not entering the 'Temple of Apple'

:)
