After that ridiculous launch of Tidal a few months back, I don't think I could ever bring myself to subscribe to it.

I've been grateful for my huge mp3 libraries since moving house and not having proper broadband for the foreseeable future. When you're limited to 25gb/month, streaming audio suddenly feels like a luxury.it's eaten into illegal downloading too - I used to have huge mp3 libraries from when I downloaded stuff for casual listening: now I just go to spotify, youtube or bandcamp if I want to check something out and my hard-drive is practically empty.
I'm not sure if it's possible to get people to pay more for digital - legal streaming came along just as there was a concerted effort to make illegal downloading more difficult, and as it's reasonably cheap and convenient, most people switched to that. I suspect the price point is at the maximum the market will bear - increase the cost, and illegal downloading will go back up again.Yes, me too. That's the only reason anyone would sign up to it as an artist/label isn't it - basically that it's better than nothing. It makes it almost impossible to try and push people towards paying for anything else though.

We're going to be having this all day aren't we? This is the third one I think.
I've just stuck all my music onto an old hard drive, and set up a raspberry pi 3 as a plex server......
