Pity it's all bland shite then - and offensive bland shite at that

Definitely bland, but offensive? Do we regard the artist with scorn and then taint all that s/he's achieved. Are there any example of people disliking a performer and enjoying their music (and vice versa).

It could be any number of things. In your opinion has genesis created music that is relevant beyond its own era, a musical sound that transcends the period it's in. I personally would say they had.
No they have not, it's very much of that time and place.

Yes, offensive

Artist? Hmmm. No

Scorn? Yes.

Taint? Yes - because the 'artist' carries on with their 'vision'

Yes. I'm sure there are, but I don't know any :)

Can I just say that I think Genesis are shit. I just like a few of Collins' mid eighties hits - In The Air Tonight, Easy Lover, Sussudio and You Can't Hurry Love. They are iconic 80s hits.

*spewww*

and

how fuckin DARE he pinch you can't hurry love

I'm a fan of Peter Gabriel. (And I don't care :p -- I've met him and chatted to him, and he's a nice, friendly, witty bloke)

I mainly like his solo stuff, but I had a reasonable not-actually-kill-them tolerence level for Genesis too, when PG was still with em. (He got much much better on his own later, IMO).

(I was always more of a Floyd and Zeppelin man in those days though, before I discovered the Clash! :D )

Thus, for all sorts of reasons including the unofficial but true FACT that Gabriel correctly thinks Collins is a twat, I'm in no way at all a fan of the Gabriel-less Genesis, especially any 'line-up' that has Collins within the same town (universe?) as them ...

And I'd only tolerate** Genesis even featuring Peter Gabriel, if Collins was assassinated first .... ideally by me ...

**if sufficiently enhanced, almost, just about, like ...

(PLEASE don't come to Glastonbury!!!!!!! )

It's war. you ape!!! x 10,000

Phil Collins is an odious little toad... Mind you I have to admit the lyric "I believe in the family/with my ever loving wife beside me/but she don't know about my girlfriend/or the man I met last night" is pretty cutting.

Those songs were timeless.

They were shit then. They still are. They always will be.

And he's always been a cunt.

I'd forgotten what susudio sounded like, so I (stupidly) looked it up on you-tube... Fucking cunts the lot of you, I blanked that shit out for a reason!

Wastin you time here Will.. the thread is littered with teeny-boppers and try-hards.. "The Return of the Giant Hogweed".. this thread seperates the Men from the boyz.

take it easy..

Damn – I thought that fucker Collins had said he’d never tour again ‘coz he was going deaf or something!

I guess at least the fact they’re touring makes him more vulnerable to freak electrical accidents/falling equipment/rocket-propelled grenades fired from the crowd during ‘In the Air Tonight’ than if he’d just sat at home counting his money….

I own two Genesis albums - Selling England By The Pound and The Lamb... , and I still think they're shit. I keep them for sentimental reasons. I used to have more, but my sentiment didn't stretch that far.

they're shit.

So that's one of his own, one collaboration, one song nicked off Prince, one song nicked off the Supremes.

At least you didn't pick "Another Day In Paradise".

And Nazareth and Uriah Heep are touring - what is the world coming to.

:D

We can but hope for reprises from the scorpions, and the tygers of pan tang and all will be well with the world.

I wonder whether this will mean a re-launch of the inestimable Mr Collins' film career too. I await buster 2 with high hopes

It doesn't matter who wrote the songs.
And why is that when someone who meets with your approval sings a song written by another artist it's a cover version, but when it's someone who doesn't meet with your approval, they're 'nicking it'?
Which song is the Prince song then?
