Er, yes. When a famous actor has a part in a film, the audience notices them. What else did you notice? Any helicopters? Or a river?
I have probably seen Apocalypse Now three or four times but yesterday was the first time I had noticed Harrison Ford. Perhaps I just wasn't concentrating at that moment when I saw it the previous times!!Er, yes. When a famous actor has a part in a film, the audience notices them. What else did you notice? Next time you see it look out for cameos by Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper, Laurence Fishburne and Marlon Brando.I have probably seen Apocalypse Now three or four times but yesterday was the first time I had noticed Harrison Ford
Duval and Hopper were not cameos, they were major parts ... Brando? (I already said I shit on your cynicismNext time you see it look out for cameos by Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper, Laurence Fishburne and Marlon Brando.
) .... but I didn't see Fishbourne, perhaps that was when I went out for 15 minutes. But to trust my judgement it was ace.
But it was very long. Very very long.
Oh when I watched it last night it did, I went out and came back for the end, the journey up the river didn't hold my interest so well this time around. It didn't seem long though, the sign of a good film.

Oh I liked that bit, the mobile air unit and their attack, the music and surfing and all ... after that though my interest flagged a bit....I loved that bit cos he was going deeper into uncertainty and danger. 'But that's charlies point...'.

What I really wanted to watch was the final part when Sheen had arrived at Brando's camp. The filming was interesting, the lighting especially. During much of the time Sheen is talking to Brando, there is hardly any detail lit on the screen, perhaps a tiny part of Brando's shaven head, just his nose or a single eye, or just a faint outline, as a viewer I am constantly trying to make sense of the shadows, I think it was very well shot.

Something I noticed, when the main protagonist (Sheen) was being briefed by the senior officers on his mission there was a rather youthful Harrison Ford iirc in glasses.

Ford had been acting and appearing in films prior to doing carpentry for Lucas. In the film Fords name is G. Lucas, Lucas of course discovered Ford when he was doing chippy work for him, and gave him a screen shot....I think thats right![]()
Thanks you, that was fascinating.
