I understand it (it's hardly rocket science) but I just don't see how it's that pertinent to the discussion. It seemed to contain a hint of smugness, that people who are concerned about the way they look are somehow silly or vain and that people who are willing to gro old 'naturally' (natural isn't always what it's cracked up to be) are somehow superior.
It's just as bad to put a woman down because she's concerned about her looks and write her off as vain as it is to write someone off for not being 'pretty enough', or not caring much one way or another about her appearance.
Well, I've never said anyone was vain - that was another poster, but in any event people are entitled to their opinion. I've been called vain on more than one occasion and it doesn't bother me at all.
