Anyone thinking of buying an espresso machine?

The best deal ever in espresso machines was a few years back at Woolies. They had unbranded units out of the same factory that made Breville Cafe Roma machines. Same machine, no brand name, £30.

The frothing wand is rubbish and the basket always needs a wash due to sloppy grounds, but it makes better espresso than *anything* that cost £30.

Just reminiscing. I've got nuthin' for right now. :(

We got a FrancisFrancis! X1 for a wedding present. It's frickin' awesome. Stupid name, great coffee. And it looks good too, which is a bonus.

i have that exact same espresso machine, but in cream :)

But the 3-4" brass (copper?) eagle on top of a beaten copper two-group Rancilio lump from godonlyknowswhen is pretty unique :D

That retro desigh was about 20 years ago, I reckon.

I'd much prefer to stumble across one of their Z8 models from the 1970s.

hilariously, if you look through the Kamira website and the funky design doesn't appeal to you, they have another way of persuading you to buy one

my mate has one of these and swears by it - The Kamira

relatively cheap (59 euros) and apparently it makes the best espressos. i might have to get one :)

Stove-top?

Looks like it's a combination between a vacpot and a moka pot, only with a portafilter and heat sink...

If the tube does act as a heat sink, it could do very interesting things when compared with a moka pot...

e2a: if they're getting that much crema out of pre-ground, I'd be interested in seeing the portafilter - it looks (from the pictured shot) like it might be pressurised...
