Anyone staying in London over Christmas?

We'll be here over Christmas... Christmas Eve is my FIL's birthday, so the family are expected to congregate at his place for the evening, and be nice to each other..

Christmas Day, working at the local SA hall, my husband will be picking people up/dropping them home, and then we'll be hostesses with the mostesses..

Boxing Day could well be spent on the M4/M5.

Last Christmas Day we went to Hampton Open Air Pool and were gobsmacked by how many people had the same idea.. some of the idiots actually SWAM

Yep I know of two people who do that in HOAP on Christmas Day -absolute nutters.

I dunno what I'm doing or where I'll be for christmas - my family is a bit disjointed and my sisters dont want my Mum round and my brother will be with his mates - I might come to see my best friend and just get pissed somewhere :D

Being as I fuckin hate christmas anyway

Perhaps us urbanites staying in London could get together on Boxing Day evening?

:) :)

We'd be up for that I reckon ...

Stig may have to go to her mum in Kent at some point, but for me, it's unlikely I'll be leaving London at all over the whole Xmas period .... will probably make a token visit to my parents the day after Boxing Day, but otherwise my time |(including many extensive lie-ins!!) will be mine ...

<edit to add : They live less than a mile away from me, anyway>

I too love the quietness, and the avoidance of transport booking hassle

First Christmas in London for me and Mrs PC, and not with family - but now we've got Little PC we're our own family!
Going round to friends for dinner next to Burgess Park (will be sure to say hello, guinnessdrinker!) and good will and some scary adventures in cooking...
I'm really looking forward to seeing London on Christmas Day, and - terrible though it may sound, because I love my family and we get on really well - NOT being with extended family, just for once, to see what it's like. :)

We're visiting Magneze's parents earlier in the day but should be free in the evening. I wonder if The Albert will be open?

I'm staying here
every time I've stayed I've loved it, got loads of work done, had fun with friends, chilled out on my own. bliss
every time I've gone to stay with ralatives, much as I love em, I've ended up returning exhausted, emotionally drained and in need of a holiday
I've got a choice of friends (one of whom is a superb chef) for dinner invitations and I'll be working (which I love) and so that's me
sorted and happy :)

We'll be taking our usual Christmas afternoon walk around Brockwell Park :) I really like Christmas in London.. it's so empty!

I'm in London too... staying at home in Brixton except for a 48 hour trip to Chiswick to visit my granny from Christmas Eve to Boxing day. :)

I like the ghost town, deserted feeling around London at Xmas as well.

I'll be staying in town and celebrating my second Brixmas (although sadly the lovely etnea's away visiting family this time around) - working every day from the 23rd through til the 29th though.

i'm a londoner, always spent christmas in london

apart from those times when i haven't

but mostly i love to spend chrismtas in london. feels quiet

Me and Janster are in London, looking forward to it :) Her mum is coming down to stay with us for a few days.
I've never spent an Xmas in London despite being here for 6 years! Can't wait!

Sounds like it's gonna be nice and peaceful.

Oh, and...the London Cycling Campaign does a ride on Xmas day, apparently, which loads of people turn up to - the streets of central London are lovely and quiet. I'd really like to do that ride sometime! They all go for a nosh-up after.

Just thought I'd mention that in case anyone's interested! All are welcome

Sounds interesting do you have any more details Han?

is there anywhere you can book a table for dinner christmas day? pubs OK, too, just looking for a traditional christmas dinner that i don't have to cook myself! we're doing the italian christmas eve feast on the 24th..

am really looking forward to a cycle ride, hope it doesn't rain! keep me posted on the london cycling campaign thing, might be into that.

It's bloody marvellous over Christmas. I'll be be back as soon as transport is running again. Everyone is so much more chilled. One of my favourite adult christmasses was the one time I got to stay here.

Bizarrely - on the only day of the year Hampstead High St is empty, totally empty - I saw two cars have a totally inexplicable head on crash. Nothing else on the road whatsoever. Doh!
