Anyone seen A History Of Violence?

I haven't seen it so I'm not reading the thread in case of spoilers, but I just wanted to say thanks for reminding me about this film - I'd forgotten all about it. Might rent it this weekend.

Not entirely satisying for some reason, but I think the cheesiness of the ideal family relationships was obviously a conscious ploy by Cronenburg. That represented the american dream, the father's violence represented the violent underbelly that sustains the US, including it's economy. It doesn't make a lot of difference if the son's violence is learnt or genetic, we're clearly capable of it as humans.

I thought the 'morality' was one of the most interstig points of HoV. Seemed to me the morality tale here was that, in modern USA, violence is the answer; whether at school, at home (the sex), at work, on the street - violence solves the problems and it's acceptable to the community.

But perhaps the film is most interesting for the variety of reactions to it.

Btw, does anyone remember where Cronenberg borrowed that scene where Tom walks down to the lake at hs brothers house in the early morning light (new dawn, washing off the past, etc) ?

I could be wrong, but is that film K-pax.

Viken what other films do you hate as much as this, I would like to watch them.
Crash. Saw. I'll let you know if I think of any others.

Oh and recently, Coffee & Cigarettes. Oh and Batman Begins. I suffer from the recency effect with these things, but will keep updating this post if you like.

I've seen crash, possibly one of the best films of this decade, saw was average, but entertaining. Keep them coming vixen.....
If you didn't like batman begins then there is something wrong with you. Generically it is near perfect, you can't fault it on any other level because it surpasses all expectation. I think you are pulling my leg, and i've indulged you long enough.
