Oh dear.
Anyway, the adults were dead because the virus killed them all!
But I remember at the start of the show there was a news broadcast about an evacuation. And there were scenes where the pregnant girls parents left her (with a baby brother? or am I imagining that?). Did the virus strike the entire planet?
Yeah...they were evacuating the children. The city was divided into sectors and the children were confined to these sectors. The broadcast was just old footage of when the virus broke out. The scenes of Trudie with her parents are just flashbacks.

So why didn't the kids die? Did they die when they got to 16 like a sort of Logans Run affair?
It seemed to run for quite some time, some of the kids must have been adults by the time it finished and got a bit tired of being emo goths.
Cos the kids were isolated and they tried to quarentine the adults but they just all died.
