I love mumcat's distinctly no-nonsense approach to parenting:
1) ignore meeping kitties completely
2) thrash/twitch tail about irritably when the kittens bite it
3) give a few warning grumbly noises then
4) buggerr off into kitchen for food leaving them to look after themselves...

brilliant!
and also: video of nearly-cut-in-half-by-a-box kitten made me laugh then feel bad at my inhumanity.

Still desperately envious, as you can see.

Sending a link to that to family members who will go 'squeeee!'

I love the way they manage to be unsteady on their feet, even though they have four and they're not very far from the ground! :D

Well, have returned from holiday to find the cat that's not really ours is definately up the duff. Will be speaking to the neighbours to determine maternity care arrangements - and who gets custody of the kittens!

She's so ickle normally that she looks really quite bizarre all barrel shaped in the middle and she can't curl up in a little ball anymore. I'm sure I felt a kitten moving last night

We reckon it must have been around mid-May that she got knocked up so guess she'll be due around mid-July.

I'm feeling really responsible for her - plus the dirty no good Tom who knocked her up is hanging around again

We can't let her stay in the house during the day as there's no cat-flap, she's not technically ours and we're not supposed to have pets without permission - but I'm wondering if we should just move her inside soon and shut her downstairs with a litter tray? I've no idea if she's used to using one - another thing to check with the neighbours.

Currently, I'm leaving food and water in our shed which she can still get in and out of via a hole at the the back. Although I guess this means the dirty no good Tom can too

We're going to also have to talk to next door about getting her done once this litter's out the way - can't face going through all this again!

Yup - we are mixing 50/50 kitten food and ordinary cat biscuits. I've tried to make a little nest for her in a convenient cupboard - keep showing it to her as it's a place she's investigated before so am hoping this will be her preferred spot :)
