Anyone Had Kittens?

chriswill

Misbehaving!
Not personally obviously.

we adopted Gizmo from the local shelter about 6 weeks ago. It has been apparent for sometime that we got more than we bargained for and she is due to drop any day now.

We have placed a couple of boxes in the quite parts of the house filled with loose paper.

After that I'm stumped, is there anything else I should keep an eye out for?

Any advise is gratefully received

No advice at all but we demand pics.

Good luck, hope someone comes along with something constructive to say. :)

Mum cats are the best - they just get on with all the looking after and you barely notice a thing apart from the cute mewing

you won't need to do much at all. In fact you've done what I did when my first cat dropped...except a warm blanket might be better than paper

I have put a fleece in one, she is pacing around the house mewing for no particular reason.

I think it may be happening sooner rather than later

Make sure they're not in any bright light.
Don't try to handle them too much at first, but do make sure they're all getting looked after and the mother is producing milk properly

Never mind the boxes full of paper, just make sure you've got a working cameraphone-to-PC connection and some decent photo-editing and sizing software in order to give us daily updates plz.

in my experience, they're in the same place for a few days at best

me and you. outside? now?;)

We always kept them locked in the same room for a few days, out of harm's way - this is two litters that I have experience, but I'm sure the next door neighbours did the same with their cats.

ah, you kept them locked in the same room

usually the mum will take them off somewhere else

Yeah, but where we lived, other cats could have come in and carried them off - it was a high cat density neighbourhood, with a massive field behind all the houses and we were always shooing toms out of the house

our cat didn't really go out for the first few weeks.

closed doors and windows would make it impossible for toms to get in

She'll miaow and miaow and follow you around. Just keep popping her back in a box and petting her. She might get the idea and that'll save you bloodstains on your best quilt.
