Anyone got bonkers expensive bike lights?

?

It's white/slightly blue, but so's the cheap Cateye ones. Don't think it makes much of a difference TBH but it is visually nicer. I'll do some test pics at some point.

Right, camera on a tripod, manual exposure at f/3.5, both lights on the table.

Glad the Dinottes live up to the hype.

Thanks a lot for the tip - I would have gone with HID had I not seen these, which would have been expensive, heavy and generally less pleasant.

Head torches not too good an idea on a bike, as you lose a lot of perception of road profile - bar-mounted lights cast a shadow behind bumps in the road.

I have a small bike light next to my bell. And if I need more light I can stop and put on my head light. Nothing bonkers, nothing too expensive, and multifunctional

Well, I got through the winter and very much recommend the 200L, but mine's now blown up and has to go back to America. Excellent customer service though, so should be fine.

Anyway, I figured with that away, and err, it being the longest day of the year and all, why not splash out on this Lancashire bad boy:

Hope Vision 4, 930 lumens

Off to crash around the forest later!

For about £200 you could could get a Schmidt hub dynamo and lights.

A lot of light, minimal drag and and no worrying about recharging or carrying batteries.

No wai! LEDs are where it's at!

I reckon LEDs have overtaken HID, at least for now. The technology's massively improved in the last few years.
