anyone going to supersonic this year

is that the one in brum on the 14th?

i'd love to go, unfortunately i foolishly agreed to visit my dad that weekend. it would be rude to back out now :(

yeah.

om were good. used low bass frequencies really well. the singer did have charisma, lol, looked like he was proud to be evil. i don't really think that it was an amazing gig, just because the material wasn't avant-garde enough for me.

whereas jazkamer were, but didn't maybe know what they were doing enough, i don't know. maybe it was just me.

qui ere in a way awesome. i'd never seen a front man looking so , i dunno, like he was trying to hurt himself. like someone else said, i did actually think that he would do something more dangerous that what he did, which was just scream a bit. yeah i though that the band had alot of ideas as well, but they weren't avant garde enough for me tho, or something like that. i could be that i've beeb listening to too much 12 tone, it wasn't as good as some of the 12 tone i've been listening to. but the singer had a really tough edge, so yeah good performance.

mogwai were "sweet". slow [tho they did tell the crowd that they were going to plat their fastest song] and gentle. i've heard live post rock played badly before, so disagree and think they're not bombastic. noteworthy ending when the lead i don't know what he was doing but after the rest of the band had left he mt view wasn't great but he went a bit harsh noise, trashing his guitaur maybe i thought, tho i don't he was.

i could go on lol.

sunn were just as i remember them, different vocalist tho, i think he had a different costume on as well. there was nothing to the song, no emotional grip on it, which i thinkk was impossoble. but like befopre i was wrapped, and i think that because of that it was great looking back, just as before :-/ lol. i think it's that the particular material, the altar album is just quite unique like that.

yeah i won't go on anymore unless anyone is genuinely interested in hearing a sprawling review.

yeah.

miasma and headless carousel actually sound quite like guapo [the lead's [?] band]. bit more disturbed stylistcally. can't remember much of - tho stage video was cool - it was 60s/70s horror/detective movie by the looks of it.

i saw girls dancing to modified toy orchestra. like headless carousel stylistically the name says it all. like alot of acts i think i was still on a 12 topne hangover to enjoy too much.

i think that's all i saw. actually missed the first day cos couldn't be bothered to pay for a hotel for the night, so missed kid606/monarch etc..

crowd: lots of tatoos. not too many obese poeple either ;)

overall: stylistically speaking [;)] i think it's fair to say that the venue won.

from a musical perspective: the best music was the cd i bought from the merchandise stall. there you go :-/

Firstly, it was good to (-unexpectedly!) meet 118118 on Saturday. -Hope you enjoyed Supersonic as much as I did. :)

Best band of the day for me was probably Shit & Shine. Six drummers and two bassists. I already had a couple of their albums and they were one of the bands I was really looking forward to seeing. They just locked straight into a groove and stayed there for about 40 minutes. Demented and quite wonderfully hypnotic, and the funny thing was when the stage manager had to show them a hastily scribbled sign saying '5 MINUTES!'. Obviously that meant very little to them (-and how could it!?), so they kept going for at least another 10... :D

Other favourites for me were Voice Of The Seven Woods, Pharaoh Overlord (a side-project of mighty Finnish kosmik metallers Circle), QUI (-featuring legendary loose cannon David Yow), and Om. I only caught the first song or so by Mogwai, but by many accounts, their set wasn't quite as loud or dynamic as most would have hoped.

The day/night ended with SunnO))), who didn't take the stage until about 1:20am. I honestly cannot begin to convey quite how intense they were. If they were attempting to open some kind of a sonic portal with the underworld, I think they probably succeeded. This was the spooky intro: ), and every ten minutes or so, a single riff with probably a nine minute decay... Overall, incredibly over-powering stuff, and I pity anyone that was tripping or doing K. :D

The day after, I felt completely BROKEN, but still managed to make it to see Om again in Bristol on Monday night though.

Roll on next year...
