Anyone going to Stokefest 2008?

I have just moved into a place 2 mins from the park so this is my first Stokefest. Please be sunny!

Can you take tins of beer in?

Trains run from Liverpool Street to Stoke Newington (or Rectory Road station would do).

it'd be a bit of a walk from rectory road when considering that the next stop is SN trainstation and then you walk out of it through the cematary up the last bit of church steet and you're there... seem's like adding 10 mins and a mile or so to your journey unless you have friends in that area...

its all about SolutionSound v Gladdy Wax

iS Stokyfest the last free outdoor reggae session in town other than carnival? (lambeth country fair is reggae free this year I seem to remember hearing)

Really? Where did you hear that?

On a Brixton thread about this years county fair.

Here's the thread:

and here's the official website - no acts announced as yet

Basically Lambeth council have taken over the festival and have ditched Culture promotions (Im pretty sure its them who ran it before), in favour for running it themselves and booking local acts instead.

Unfortunately local acts may be good news for Alabama 3, but bad news for reggae fans

There must be local reggae acts surely?

Personally I think a bit more variety would be a good thing, but there should still be room for some reggae.

Fair enough, but Culture promotions (or who ever it was) brought in big names from Jamaica and across the country - limiting the music allowed to Lambeth-based changes things radically. Whats the best Lambeth/Brixton based reggae act?

I've no idea tbh - reggae is something I enjoy when I hear it but not enough to go out of my way. There must be some good acts in the area though.

Do say hello at to the pupils at the Stoke Newington School Stall. My 14 year old niece has co-organised the stall to raise monies for a memorial to their teacher who died recently.

I'm dead proud of her :)

is this free to get in?

you have to suck off diane abbott in the bushes but other than that you'll see the long que near the park house for the stokiesuckoff as we all call it...

you can still book your place in line now on her site although they seem to have taken the form down for today but if you email them you suck off request time they'll get back to you via the contact us page.
