Anyone fancy standing up for NEW LABOUR?

To be fair, they have avoided the lashings of sleaze that charachterised the end of the last tory administration and they have conspicuously avoided a Majoresque "Family Values" emphasis which I suspect they would have failed at as much as he. But by not stressing family values they have avoided being held up by such values.

They disagree with you. It's OK, you know.

I wouldn't come on here if everyone agreed with me, but most people i've had argy bargy with in the past are proud to declare themselves Tory or fascist or whatever...i think the people on here just do it for the sake of it

they are unfortunately every bit as sleazy as the Tories. Cash for knighthoods, the national audit office top man wining and dining with the people he's supposed to be monitoring, giving PFI contracts out to their mates in business.....and it goes on...

Thatcher in Downing Street

In week 1, they divorced the decisions on interest rates from the treasury. That was good.

Erm...
I think it was on day six that Blair took Thatcher back into Downing Street. That upset quite a lot of people who had illusions, it didn't surprise me, but it seems sort of symbolic in relation to everything that followed.

I think the sleaze with majors own underlings but with nu labour it was going on at the very top and don't tell me a control freak like herr brown didn,t know what was going on

Cash for honours was only because Labour were stupid enough to get caught. Not good at all, but not a specifically labour thing.

NAO and PFI OTOH...fucking scandalous, especially since the NAO is now a toothless wonder when it should be one of the bits of the bureacracy that really holds governments to account IMO.

The funny thing is if you work in a place that is audited then they will go through every bit of bureaucracy with a toothnail
and make it impossible for you to get the NECESSARY work done, but when it comes to those at the top "fancy a trip to Wimbledon?"

The honours thing (if it should exist at all) should be reserved solely for those who have done their bit for charity or rescued people from death or whatever, NOT horrible slimey bastards like the ones the govt hobnobbed with
