Anyone Ever Taken An Individual To Court For Repayment of A Loan?

Seems to me like an attempt to take a middle ground of some sort that will bring things to a close, even if no-one is actually happy with the outcome, more than anything. If Yelkcub is right and she does pay, and he takes the money, then it looks like quite an effective one.

Judge probably recognises the incompetence of the system he's working in, and has made an order that he reckons will be complied with, in order to get the damn thing out of the quagmire where it would otherwise fester on and on for years.

not quite the resolution we'd all hoped for ... but still ... how long does she get to stump up the £3.5k??

Yeah, this really

It's a piss in the ocean but it'll be over. I think I'd be feeling relieved if I was in your shoes, mate. Relieved but I wouldn't beleive it had really happened until the money's in the bank.

Yup.

Essentially, the piss in the ocean was the difference between what they accepted she owed me and what I didn't take back when I could have. Essentially, I was found to have discharged the debt by part payment except where she'd again referred to still owing a sum in a later email than I never seen but might have received.

Weird. That smacks of finding some middle ground rather than any sense of getting back what's genuinely owed - as noted by others above.

Oh God I hope she just finally pays up and fucks off, for your sake, I really do.

Yeah, the judge was alright to be fair. I suspect she did exactly that.

There comes a point when you have to weigh up how valuable your time and energy are in comparison to the money. At some point unique to each of us, the time and energy is worth a lot more than the money itself.

However, I have once or twice made the mistake of judging that moment wrongly because I've been super-stressed and I just wanted to be rid of the problem. When I've calmed down I've felt that I could've-should've held out a bit longer and worked harder for the cash.

But yeah: time and energy and peace of mind are often worth far more than any cash.

Well congratulations on a judgement, and watching her show herself up in an actual court must have been worth a fair bit of the debt.

I see decisions like this (the ones that make you go wtf? no sensible person would decide that) sometimes at work, and I think they do try to think through the logic as far as they can, but basically a lot of them are legal decisions rather than common sense decision that most of us would arrive at.

I think in this case she was awarded the benefit of the doubt over this email she supposedly sent. Personally, if I was the judge I would have disregarded any references to the email purporting to state the debt at that timepoint, unless it could be proven that she did send it when she said she did (unlikely I suspect).

That said, £3.5k is not to be sniffed at and it is better than what you had before, i.e. zero. Well done for seeing it through, but I'll reserve the champers fuelled celebrations until the cheque has cleared

Has the facebook post telling all about her shit day been made yet?

being as you are King of your workplace and earn all the big p's, I think you should donate your winnings to charity. You've shown great fortitude and sagacity by not gloating. Now transform that non-gloat into ever more virtuos acts. You know it makes sense.

We'll see Dotty. I'll give a little bit to charity every time you repeat the epic walk of love. Deal?
