Anyone ever ran a cafe?

I've thought of this in the past too, a dream more than anything.

I'd call it Toast and that's all I'd sell, different types of bread, toasted with different things on top. There must be a standard 15/20 things people eat on toast with say 5 different types of bread, maybe do specials like crumpets or muffins, nothing too fancy though.

Tell me it's not a winner, how many people have you ever met who don't like toast?

I'm wheat-intolerant, you insensitive bastard!

:D

I've been to a toast restaurant. Sold nothing but toast with things spread on it. It was in an obscure non touristy bit of thailand of all places.

Weird, but successful :D

Knew I was onto something.

The other idea I've had is for an independent burger shop in Manchester. Something like Grubs in Brighton. They have about 15 different toppings, you can get veggie/beef and single, double or triple. They do a few sides like chips and onion rings but otherwise it's a pretty straightforward menu. It's always busy, must make a mint after the pub shuts. Reckon it would do good business somewhere near the university.

That, or a mexican. Fuck all mexican food in Manchester really but I reckon to do it properly would be expensive and far more time consuming with preparation than a burger shop.

tell more

What's to tell? A bunch of hippies, split between an older couple who had the money but were a nightmare to work with and younger people who drank too much Special Brew/smoked too much weed in the kitchen, trying to run a business on co-operative lines. Bound to succeed that was!

Good fun though, we threw some cracking parties.
