Anyone can recommend affordable pepper grinder that works actually?

I got a decent one in Morrison's a couple of weeks ago for about £3.99 - one of those clear plastic ones but does exactly what you're on about (i.e. lots of ground pepper with very few twists)

:( I was given a Cole and Mason pepper/salt set for Christmas last year, which was great cause I needed one and love to cook, so I was happy. What I'm not happy about is the fact that the pepper mill doesn't actually chop up the peppercorns. No, it only crumbles them a little bit, leaving you with massive great big chunks of peppercorn in your lovely mash potato and you end up going "coughcoughwheeze" all the way to the sink to wash your mouth out. Grr...

Ceramic certainly sounds like a good option.
