vague recollections of other names but places just didnt mean anything because generally you just drove to a Junction number then just followed the leader and kept driving until you couldnt get any further , dumped the car and walked. There was also the fear that after paying your 20 quid or so in advance that a) it was going to be a scam ( which it never was ) and b) it was going to get busted before you got there.
All I can remember about fields is you usualy had to park up and walk quite a bit.
At the begining, there was an unspoken rule that there was never any trouble at raves. I was once at a rave with a group of real hard nuts from Tooting when a "rival" group came over from Stockwell. They all dropped pills and shook hands and some even hugged!
It was understood they were all at a rave and loved up.
By 90/91 it wasn't so peaceful. The Es weren't so pure, more people were switching to and selling coke. People had twigged there was a lot of money to be made, and gangs and promoters had started to move in.
it was a pretty new feeling , just walking up to a bunch of strange people and getting a big smile and a share of everything , I think sometimes people forget just how violent the early/mid 80`s were ,but as you say it wasnt long before evrything was guarded by black puffa jackets and dogs .
I can remember it even took me a while before I could say the word " Rave " without it sounding really old fashioned and self conscious.
