Any interest in an urban garden visiting club?

Would you be interested in visiting some gardens with other urbanites?

That's EXACTLY the sort of thing I want in my back garden, I'd definitely be up for that.. I'm guessing you wouldn't be wanting to bring plants back on the train though? (I know I wouldn't!)

They do deliveries but not sure how much they charge. If we are a small party, I don't mind driving (although if the car is full of people, there may not be much room for plants ...)

We'd drive there too, but that wouldn't be much good for anyone who lives any distance away from us!

My van can seat 4 passengers + room for plants, I don't mind driving... :)

Jan wants to get some new shrubs....there are loads of nice ones on that site aren't there!

Ooh, that sounds like a great idea. I bet we could find a nice pub for lunch as well....

I'm definetely up for this having been a frustrated gardener for the last 2 years (since I moved to a flat without a garden :( )

Haven't really got my own garden, so Architectural Plants will just make me pine for one :( ... but definitely up for a trip to Petersham Nurseries :)

Or we could have a couple of vehicles in convoy....loads more room for plants..

I would be happy to drive my van too, so that's another 4 passengers and accompanying shrubbery :)

Just thinking....shall we set a date for this, say early March or something when the weather's a bit nicer? We could make a day trip of it

Soniks Petersham Report

So i went to Petersham on Saturday (you'll certainly need a car) not only because i think only one bus goes there but you'll spend, spend, spend.

This is the view as you walk down the lane to the Nurseries, nice!

The layout is really nice - two large greenhouses with one full of antique garden furniture (to buy) surrounded by plants etc. Some nice old tomato boxes caught my eye already planted for you!!!! £35

The other larger greenhouse (see photo) houses the very pricey restaurant (that was packed and the food looked amazing) and then the seeds/accessories/books section all very nicely laid out. I like a nicely laid out shop. See Colette in Paris.

There's loads of stuff out side and a nice fountain with seating that would be really nice in the summer.

If you are driving keep a careful look out for the sign it's tiny and easy to miss until you are right on top of it.

The pub next door looks nice but is horrible. The second you walk in the door they are on you like a pack of wolves asking if you want food or just a drink, that is NOT a pub.

Petersham Nurseries = FIVE STARS ;)

That looks amazing sonik - I can't believe I didn't know about it before :o I'm going to have to go after I get paid ;)

I'm going to post a poll for the various options which I shall attempt to make multiple choice ...
