Anton du Beke in racist outburst

It's pretty much a Darwin Awards situation: That he said this shows that he's too clueless to be doing the job he is doing.
I liked this point on face value. But then I think it's quite interesting to have in the national discourse (for want of a better description) a situation where someone who made mistakes, learned from them and it wasn't the end of the world.

All this arms thrown in the air in Python-esuqe horror demanding retribution doesn't encourage openess or encourage education, especially when it's rarely accompanied with an explanation - which is usually all the offender needs.

A little less hysterical drama might be constructive.

Except - as has been pointed out already - this was the second time he has behaved in such a manner in a few weeks. So it was explained, and he was given an opportunity to learn.

To use one racist term may be a misfortune, to use two looks like carelessness, if not straightforward bigotry.

To be honest I keep hoping that London Calling is being sarcastic or deliberately obtuse.

So far no luck
:(
Fwiw, I've never yet seen you contribute a constructive word in any thread.

All I see from you is posturing, insinuation, abuse and smiley's.

If you haven't got the wit or literary skills to write an argument or express a point that's ok, but why with the negative shit when all people are trying to do is discuss an issue?

Here's a tip buckaroo: if you fancy lecturing others on 'literary skills' it's best that you understand how to use apostrophes.

Is that constructive enough for you, or shall I ask you to read all the posts again and comprehend that DuBeke's got form for this kind of idiocy?

that still wouldn't explain why your reply skipped over (at least) one key fact, that has already been posted on this thread.

Oh please, I'll treat you with some respect once you don't try with the smartarse posts and start reading the contributions of others.

Have you comprehended that Du Beke has said similar things before and that this isn't an isolated incident yet?

I agree to an extent. If a binman made such a comment, the appropriate response would be to take him to one side and explain why he was wrong to say it. After all, stupid bigots need to work too.

But this isn't a binman, it's a highly paid TV star. So he really should be sacked.

You're talking to someone who refused to criticise a Spurs player for using the same word as a drunken insult at an Asian nightclub bouncer. This thread isn't where he'll be convinced to take it seriously.

I can understand that more. When Bruce was born, along with Jason and his Argonauts, it probably was more acceptable. And now he's a silly old duffer with all the mental fortitude of a dead stoat.

Still, he's a bit of an LC with his talk of the British being called 'limeys' by superannuated GIs back in the day. Only 'paki' wasn't used shorthand for Pakistani nationals, more a derogatory term for any asian 'darkie' - in this case a person of Moroccan and Indian heritage.

Both of the dappy fools should be pensioned off out of sight.

Doesn't anyone remember any of this crap from a previous season its pretty transparent if you ask me when you see some shows, not that I watch this stuff:hmm:, whether the media jumping in now will help change peoples views at home is the issue really or are they reading this and thinking its all PC nonsense I'm not so sure
