It was on the table though, wasn't it?

Then there were all the Nazis who were spirited out of Germany to the US. Many of them were welcomed with open arms by the Republican Party and all of them had outstanding anti-communist credentials.

And they lived in the bund happily ever after

when did america declare war on the nazis johnny?

Or sometime after the Nazis declared war on them :D

Oct 31, 1941, The destroyer USS Reuben James was torpedoed by the German submarine U-562. Her magazine exploded and she sank with the loss of 100 out of 144 men. The Reuben James was the second US destroyer attacked by a German submarine with loss of life in the space of a fortnight, the Kearny having been torpedoed by U-568 on 17 Oct 1941.

Dec 7, 1941 pearl harbour, pesky japanese eh! Britain immediatley declares war on Japan, as allies are supposed to do.

Dec 11, 1941 a bemused hitler declares war on the united states

if it wasn't for those pesky japanese eh!

America interns all people of japanese descent, The bunds are still untouched.

I found this quote from hitlers speech quite enlightening, about the president of US, rings true today a bit, replace the freemasons with the fundies ;)

First he incites war then falsifies the causes, then odiously wraps himself in a cloak of Christian hypocrisy and slowly but surely leads mankind to war, not without calling God to witness the honesty of his attack-in the approved manner of an old Freemason.

You've never watched it?

No i've never watched it. It's been on a telly that i happen to come across on odd occasions, but i look at it for a minute, just long enough to puke my guts up before getting a beer to wash my mouth clean. Also, since the man IS the news half the time in written media i get to read a wee bit about him and his latest guests. I hate the way he adds humanity to the likes of political killers.

The remnants of the Soviet empire still rattle around, even though it hasn't existed for sixteen years. Why are you surprised that the legacy from the american side of the cold war still exists? Yes, the Wall could be dismantled in a week or so, but the network of client states, etc, doesn't go away quite so easily.

And how have those remnants of the soviet empire contributed to the latest US invasion of iraq?

And the stranglehold the US have put on various south east asian economies following the collapse here in 1997?

And their attempts to unseat chavaz?

And their threats over n korea, iran, syria?

And the one million plus drug users they've jailed? And the millions around the world who suffer due to their various levers of power... erm, influence??

Just a few examples you understand.

So what impact exactly did the US have in Russia's brutal war on the Chechen people, or its sponsorship of regimes with more-than-dodgy human rights records all over the place? The US is hardly unique, and is a lot better than had the Russians won the Cold War.

Well, we'll never know that. And anyway, it depends on who you're talking for. Maybe for british folk, but for many others i doubt they'd agree with you. Certainly they will not agree that america is good for them.

For humanity as a whole, the americans have been an unmitigated disaster over the last 60 years. The good stuff they have given the world has been dwarfed by the bad stuff.

Talking for all humans that is, not just the 'lucky' fuckers in developed world countries.

I'm not bothered about post cold war, what I am trying to show is US complicity in starting it. JC2 seems to think it was Russia's doing.

We should maybe go back a bit more, to the US civil war, in the death throes of that civil war, UK and France, supported the south for obvious reasons, gathering their forces like vultures waiting to pick the spoils and were thwarted by the Russian Imperial fleet blockading American Ports.

Would you prefer to just sit around chatting amongst yourselves about how bad the US is, or would you rather have your beliefs challenged a little?

This was a discussion board, last time I looked?
The point ---------->
