anti ageing cream

I use Boss moisturiser. For everyday sun protection I use factor 15 Lubriderm. People often say I'm in good condition for my age which is nice.

I don't get this moisturising business. I turn into a prune if I stay in the bath too long.
I reckon I owe my youthful complexion to exercise, wearing a hat and not washing much - cold water and a flannel for me.

Moisturising isn't about water, it is about oils in the skin. Rubbing the equivalent of lard on the face keeps the skin soft and oily. These products are not just fat though, they are emulsions of oil and water so that they get through the pores of the skin and don't just sit on the surface.

I sometimes get a bit of rough skin on my face from the wind. I rub a bit of Aqueus cream on it and after a while it gets softer and more moist seeming. Years ago I used to work as a potter and my hands were in water and clay for a lot of the day. Going out in the cold weather and wind in the winter used to make my hands red and rough because the clay and water had removed the natural oils in the skin. I had a large tin of Boots E45 (I think that was the number) and would rub it into the skin before going outside. It was perfume free or I wouldn't have used it as I am a bloke.

As Teepee is a princess she should be bathing in goats milk really to keep her skin soft and supple. This is recommended in all the best fairy tales.

I've been using the aldi night time stuff for about a week now - it's ace

Me and mr madz put it on together when we go to bed :D

Always amazes me when I see young women smoking (and drinking - I doubt that does the skin any good either) ... it apparently furs up the arteries too - presumably they hope to die before they get wrinkles ..

i guess the old saying that the couple that exfoliates together, stays together is a myth, innit? :p

personally i would never do that with any woman i was dating...way too effeminate

it is...i saw him on facebook giving the V (lol) a while back and his skin has gone to hell. :D

we had loads of laughs doin shit like that, he wasnt effeminate at all, it was just one of our 'things', like me sending samples of all sorts of shit to his house, he never knew what was coming, condoms, tampons, lipstick, cologne, food...we just had our silly 'things'....

same bloke that used to draw me a pic in microsoft paint everyday from work and email it to me...if he hadnt thrown me down a flight of stairs id defo still speak to him. :)

So, let me get this straight ...

I'm getting on in years and I notice that I have more flaky bits than I used to when I perform my morning ablutions - especially on the bridge of my nose.

should I be doing something in particular - as opposed to just attacking them with a wet, soapless flannel ?

.. and if there is a product, please let it be from the Body Shop and smell of pudding.

The Body Shop do loads of nice moisturisers. I recommend their Vitamin E moisture cream - although it's about £9, which personally I think is a bit steep. I use Superdrug Vitamin E moisturiser, which is £2.50.

At night I use Astral.

maybe, but at that point I doubt I'll give a shit what I look like!

oi cheeky :D

i'm bloody 45 dont you know!

i bought some of these anti-ageing creams a while back (spent a shocking amount compared to what i'd usually spend on this kind of stuff) and my skin turned shit.

about a week ago, i went back to my usual routine - and my skin is back to normal. so sod expensive (probably rubbish) moistuerising. i'm done with it.

teeps, you don't need anti ageing cream you nutter. you're in your 20s. :D

Not washing much won't make you younger, just smellier!

I have a bath everyday and still don't have any real wrinkles to speak of!

You're just a soap dodger!

Historically I've used whatever moisturiser is on sale, altho recently I've moved to that Aldi cream on recommendation from my sis. I must admit it pretty damn good - it doesn't irritate my skin and stops it from feeling tight and itchy, something that plagues me as the weather gets colder (not helped by the fact that everywhere is centrally heated.....)

I'm not too peturbed by my wrinkles anyway. I'm more concerned by the couple of 'sun spots' I have.

Daily bathing is decadent. :p

I pride myself that I can run up the stairs at work to the executive washroom, have my strip wash and get back down before the people I've passed on the way have finished gossiping (mind you, the people I work with could talk for England).

They've fitted showers at work beside the bike park. But, apart from their being in the wrong place (I like to finish sweating before I wash - so I usually get any physical jobs out of the way too), the stench of other people's bathroom products puts me right off.
.

i always think it doesn't really matter what you do or do not use - its finding what suits you is the trick, so if a damp flannel works best for you think of what you can get with the money you SAVE

Well I think it works for me - I'm just a bit worried that simply rubbing the flaky skin off isn't actually the way to go ...

During the course of the day I'll wash my face with plain water a few times.

I just had a look and I'm a bit crumbly just above the bridge of my nose ...

Do you wear glasses/shades ?

are you crumbly elsewhere ? if it's not too personal ?

Yep - I wear glasses - but they never fit properly and are most often perched lower down my nose.

It's just around the face - moustache / beard area ..

I would upload a photo but my camera driver is up the creek ...

do you shave ?

i recommend a moisturiser

:D

or summat to lather up/moisturise with - him indoors uses lush's razorantium but there are other things do the job.

I bought some earlier actually for the first time ha! Only because they didn't have my usual moisturiser and this was cheaper though. It's dermalogics or something, smells quite nice and its non greasy so will give it a go for a bit.
