Another wrong'un at Liverpool

Gone in for Kuyt, We must have the uglyiest front line in the premiership now.

Reminds me of a thin sloth from the goonies...that and a lanky timmy from South Park and your right..... the girls from the pool must be dribbling at the thought

I like kuyt's enthusiasm for liverpool, and for that reason alone he should be with us. We can overlook the fact that we don't play the sort of football that will net him 20+ a season, but he is strong and will adapt to the EPL.

Nah, it just gives us options or possibilites as Don Rafa would say. Mix and match from Crouch, Bellamy, Fowler, Garcia, Pennant, Gerrard, Gonzales, Kewell, got a nice set of attacking players there.
half of whom, it must be said, are off-field disasters just waiting to happen.
YES - pennant is extremely talented, but that ain't enough. not for a club of LFC's size and importance. and he's a complete twit.
YES - ditto kewell. but when do we actually get to see enough of it, week in, week out?
bellamy - see pennant.
gonzales - hmm, he needs at least a season to adjust. and his pedigree reads "one good season at sociedad" - themselves hardly a dominant force
Fowler - see pennant, plus 31, plus never really achieved all he should have, so won't no.
garcia - Ok, but not enough on his own, and doesn't really impose himself on games like liverpool need someone to do there and like, in fact, barnes used to, at his peak (jesus, you lot REALLY specialise in beautifully, romantically unfulfilled talent, don'tcha? :p )
crouch - sory but HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
The point I am trying to make here is; YOU ARE HAVING A FUCKING LAUGH.
more seriously, the last thing english football needs is a return to ye traditional clumping giant centreforward - and, to me, crouch is a slightly more skilful version of that, with a better training regimen.
to sum up; your one totally solid, superb, world-class, faultless player is gonna have a really, really tough season. and he's gotta captain that bunch of human fireworks as well. g'luck guv'nor, you'll need it.
good defensively, tho', and that's where all great teams start, in their building, and rafa's a canny bloke

I think he'll settle in much quicker than that.

John Barns, unfullfilled talent??? Your showing your self to be a buffoon.
in terms of his england career, in terms of his performance in big, big trophy games, he was.
in the '88 FA cup final (and the 89 one) his performance, for a player of his phenomenal talent - he was a huge disappointment. if he had fully realised that talent, he would have been the lynchpin of england for a decade. he wasn't.
where I'm coming from - I revered him because few players, in full flow, have been as mesmerising. but that is not enough. on the biggest stages of all...it didn't really happen, not as much as it should have done. And I'd have been as thrilled as anyone if it had.
thierry henry syndrome, tbh :(

hope he does. doubt he will. willing to be proved wrong. out of english footballs 4 current 'big clubs', if we don't get there I'd want 'pool to stuff Manure or those graceless, charmless tossers from fulham broadway any da.
ANY DAY. 'Pool as a club have soul.

Barnes at his best for Liverpool was immense. He practically won the league on his own for two seasons. It was a huge shame that he and that team couldn't compete with the other best teams in Europe.

Barnes & Henry are both the same level. I'd say Barnes was better in his prime.

not himself, i would give beardsley equal credit, but i would agree that he was phenomenal

Bring back houllier please....

I really hate it when commentators pronounce the "H" in Gerard Houllier's name. I don't care much for the way they pronounce the "ll" as a they would in anglais. It's pronounced "oo-yay". :)

Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge.

A great trio.

Not sure how the team would have got on in Europe.

Ablett was in defence!

Think Neil could be good cover for Finnan or at centre half, Kromcrap just aint up to standard.

and gillespie - perhaps didn't notice it down there but he was badly shown up when he came up to play 'proper' football

<cough>

Lucas Neill? Seriously?

Had a very good World cup. £2m is good business imho.

what Liverpool have now is options. They have a squad full of good players.

In Houllier's time, we had a few good players.

Rafa has done a great job at Liverpool. Chelsea whinge on Sophie Anderton like for not getting respect - but I don't see much respect going Rafa's way.

Not even begrudging respec.

I've seen him play this season you know.

And get sent off.

After being at fault for the first goal.

He was sent off before the other two went in.

Oh dear.

:p

(On his day, yes. Off his day, Salif Diao)

Salif Diao? :D I don't think so.

There will come a day when Salif comes clean - like Ali Dia at Southampton.

He'll reveal himself to be a postman or something.

TheLostProphet said:
He couldn't be a postman now, could he?

He never fucking delivered :D
We sent him down to Charlton for a medical, they sent him back saying he wasn't fit enough to be a professional footballer(this is the club that bought traore).

I'm hoping that Neill will be cover across the back, but we've already got two good prospects in Paletta and Agger for centre back.

I can see him getting sent off in the derby.

Kromkamp is going to Celtic on loan apparently so Neil would be mainly right back cover - but also CB if required. Don't like him, but for £2m I would be happy enough.
