another fared dodging question

Right....so all the people who are supposed to be concentrating on making sure trains run on time, that track is maintained, that rolling stock is clean and comfortable are spending all their time running round after fare evaders.

Fare evasion is the main reason why the rail network is in such a state. Is it? Hmm?

Post reported... I wonder why people like Chica, etc, don't have jobs and think its cool to fair dodge... Perhaps because they can't post without swearing everyother word... Did I get laid...? Yep, this morning. :D And when I went for birthday drinks several people came along... :D And gosh, I have a fairly interesting, quite well paid job as well. :D Um, what was your point...?

fuck off.

Fare evasion hits twice. Loss of revenue, and employing inspector, etc...

i'd actually started paying for my tickets since i got stung for over £150- but after reading posts by smug cunts like you jaed, i'm going back to fare-dodging

:)

Does the London Underground still have those barriers things, or have they all been removed since I went through them this morning...? They were also at the majority of central London embarkation points...

Not sure what more you want to have. How about pollice officers at each station...?
You are talking about London Underground. This thread has not been about London Underground specifically. The original post, if I remember correctly, mentioned Herne Hill which is on the .... er .... overground network. Have you seen barriers at all overground stations? Or even many of them? Even the terminii like Waterloo? (I'll give you a clue - the answer you are looking for is "No")

And even dealing with your own little flight of fancy. Have you never seen the barriers at a tube station left open, especailly in the early mornings or late evenings, but even during the middle of the day outside the central area? Perhaps you need to get out more. The reason they have to leave them open is because they have ... er ... insufficient staff to work them and to leave them closed and unstaffed is a safety hazard in an emergency.

And no, I don't want to see police officers at each station. Barriers, and the staff to work them, would be fine.

You really have a hatred thing going on with me don't you. Is it because I was a police officer?

Ah. So you are some twat of a banned poster crawling back and trying to be all kerayzee and controversial?

Imagine having a life so free from excitement that pissing about on a website is as good as it gets?

What a fucking waste of space you are.

I got caught out at Herne Hill yesterday evening, without a ticket. I told the nice fare evasion man that I'd lost my ticket and chucked it on the train, as there aren't usually ticket inspectors at Herne Hill. It was a fare cop, I didn't buy a ticket, I got caught, no point in making a fuss (and the chap was ded grateful I wasn't tbh)

Anyway, I paid a tenner, but what's the likelyhood of them pursuing me for the other tenner?

Obviously it would be very naughty of me to do so, but it occured to me, that what's to stop people giving false names and addresses? How would they catch up with you then?

It's a pity that you didn't get an on the spot fine for admitting to littering.

"I told the nice fare evasion man that I'd lost my ticket and chucked it on the train"

Littering is a criminal offence subject to on the spot fines courtesy of DEFRA since 06/04 - up to £80.

So what? Littering is fine with me. If noone dropped litter stationweepers, train cleaners etc would be out of a job. maybe if there was litterbins every two yards it'd be diffrent, but if i wanna eat a sweet im hardly gonna put the sticky wrapper in my pocket ... and what are you meant to do with cigarette butts?? stick em up your nose till you find a bin? most of which will be full of stinky burger wrapping or set alight by the young team just for badness anyway?

I sincerely hope that a few £80 fines will dissuade you from such vile personal habits.

"What if no-one ever robbed, or stole. What if no-one lied, or cheated?"

Dream on. You're the one who seems so hung up on market forces and shit - fare dodging is all just part of the market forces equation that happens when you destaff your rail network. So don't go going all starry-eyed and idealistic on us now, just because it suits your argument to...

I suspect that it's probably more to do with the fact that as a puking little toryboy wannabe, jaed would LIKE you to be somewhat more stereotypically the kind of police officer he has slotted into his narrow little worldview. By NOT being some kind of hair-ruffling, round-the-ear-clipping, racist, middle-class-yet-rough-diamond intolerant kind of proto-Dixon-of-Dock-Green-updated-for-the-21st-century, you're causing all kinds of cognitive dissonance in what passes for a cranial cavity in the poor mite, which is making steam come out of his ears. This, in turn, is causing earwax to be deposited onto his shiny suit, and with self-esteem as fragile as his, that's having a dire effect on his public image.

I hope you're suitably ashamed of yourself

:D

Oh, sorry!

Are there still actually bins in London tube and train stations? If so  x 1000

There haven't been any in Leeds station since the IRA and the 7/7 bombs made that even less likely they'll be re -introduced. You simply *have* to drop litter on the floor and the cleaners clean up after you.

Feels weird it does but it's safer.

Not many. In some places there are clear plastic bags on those sort of hoop stands or similar. And most SWT trains now have bins on board.

But otherwise not. It's a over-the-top reaction if you ask me. By all means remove them during acampaign known to use them, and by all means introduce some that are less able to be used, or with some sort of checking regime by cleanres but keep it all in proportion.

You KNOW that tons and tons of crap will be deposited EVERY day (if only free bloody newspapers - I really hope Associated Newspapers get charged for clearing up the fucking mess caused by Metro and Standard Lite  ) but what are the chances of a bomber using the bin ... And whats to stop them using all the other street furniture as camoflage?

I dunno I'd rather have a bit of litter than a bomb I think.

Mind you there's nothing to stop people putting them on the trains or disguising them in luggage.

I wonder if they closed all the left luggage places too?

I travel through Leeds quite a bit - there's plenty of bins in the public spaces around the station, as an alternative, you could always take your rubbish and dispose of it on the train or at home as opposed to being too idle to do so.

I remember travelling on the Tube on the 9th of July last year. In one station there was a Benjys bag sitting on one of the seats - next thing the station was evacuated - was it left by a terrorist or just some inconsiderate littering git? - I never found out.

Other than outside, can I ask where? I'm interested cos I travel through Leeds everyday and have yet to see one!

"public spaces around the station" means outside the station.
