Anish Kapoor at the Royal Academy

Can you make me an Academician please?

He just sent me a pm to ask me to break the news to you gently.

No.

But here's a fabulous episode of Spanish childrens' programme, Pocoyo, called ''Don't touch'' to make you feel better.

It's a bit of a way, walking. Kings Cross to Piccadilly/Green Park.

It would be BL past Euston, to Warren Street. Walk down Tottenham Court Road. Then from that end of Oxford Street to Oxford Circus, down Regent Street, cut down a side street onto Piccadilly.

Or walk to Euston or KX, victoria line to Green park and short walk to RA.

Larry Grayson is doing well in the pottery trade, for a dead man.

Isn't he just? He's branched out into tapestry as well. Must've picked it up from someone on the Generation Game

I might check the TFL site and see if buses would be better for KX to RA. I wish I could come up for longer.

I kinda liked the lipstick train - was that solid wax?

I did think that as a whole exhibition it didn't have the same sort of gravitas as the Hayward one. I remember just being lost in the beauty of it all back then.

Hi all. From kings Cross i would advise to take the tube. You can either take the Piccadilly line to Piccadilly Circus or Green Park. Failing any catastrophes on that line you can also take the Victoria line to Green Park.

Failing that you can also take a bus. There are five bus routes, listed below, which stop on Piccadilly.

The number 9 bus service
Route: Hammersmith, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Aldwych.

The number 14 bus service
Route: Putney Heath (Green Man), Putney, Fulham Broadway, South Kensington, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly Circus, Tottenham Court Road Station. On schooldays two afternoon journeys start from Putney (Elliott School).

The number 19 bus service
Route: Finsbury Park, Highbury, Islington, Bloomsbury, Tottenham Court Road Station, Piccadilly Circus, Hyde Park Corner, Knightsbridge, Sloane Square, Chelsea, Battersea Bridge (Southside).

The number 22 bus service
Route: Putney Common, Putney Bridge, Parsons Green, Chelsea, Sloane Square, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly Circus.

The number 38 bus service
Route: Victoria, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly Circus, Tottenham Court Road Station, Bloomsbury, Islington, Dalston, Hackney, Clapton Pond.

We're planning to get tickets for this soon - Mum in law has raved about it, and I don't want to miss it.

Went tonight....there were queues and we heard people say they'd queued 20 mins....we waltzed in all la-di-dah with our Friend's of the Academy card....so no queuing for us.

It didnt have the same jaw droppingness of the Hayward a couple of years ago.....but still very good. The wax cannon was a grin......sat on floor and waited for it to fire....even managed a sneaky photo, everyone was taking them.....the actual exhibition seemed smaller than I thought.....but well worth it nonetheless....some luverly bumps and hollows as is his wont and a crazy mirror room and a room full of concrete poo piles......

Clicker, Thank you for your review. I am glad you had a good time. If you are interested in keeping up to date with the wax cannon installation then you can view the streaming webcam that will be ongoing until December the 11th.

All other thoughts are welcome.

Any more news on whether you can make me an acamedician?

I get into the exhibits for free as perk of my job ....:D

So I just go along so I can pretend I'm interesting and knowledgeable and i have something to talk about at the dinner parties I attend.

Isn't Royal academy person really kinda spam? Doesn''t he need to post on the nakid thread and tell us what's he doing at the weekend before he can talk about just the RA?

Well he needs to give away something for free at least.

eg. lifetime membership

I've got them ready in case.

I'm not sure that's how it works. I think you have to waft one in front of him over a glass of wine then lure him back to your flat with promises of more etchings and more wine, then blackmail him into making you an acamedician.

I risked the humiliation of being chucked out of the Royal Acad for this.....and had to synchronise my cough with the digital whirr...but some rules are made to be flouted...

I guess it's not so bad on a existing thread. Obviously they've got a strategy to 'engage with social media' or something :D

Makes me laugh - always hearing these digital media guru types banging on about "communicating your brand in web 2.0' and encouraging people to use bulletin boards etc to have "conversations with customers".

Although if they do make teuchter an academician, then....:hmm:

...it would be an excellent example of communicating your brand in Web 2.0, and the kind of thing I imagine would get you a promotion. There would almost certainly be an article about it in "Art Gallery Promotion Today".

Would be a first class case study in the generation of authentic brand ambassadors for the digital world, harnessing the power of social media, utilising trusted community members for endorsement. Etc.

oh yes.
