ergo proxy is fucking excellent

it has that feeling of emptiness like in ghost in the shell but it's more action based. i've watchd 3 and haven't worked out what it's about but i do like it:D

I've just finished watching it. It's all rather good.

Haruhi Suzumiya was indeed fucking win.

Just got Dead Space, playing the game now, and really like it so got the film. will watch it soon :)

Roberta!

I just watched part one of that battle

that is one of the best pastiches I've seen for ages, Terminator vs Desperado with a fucking maid and some pirates lol

oh it wasn't the first series anyway, I just had up to ep12

i think that's enough for today tho.....

trouble with all of these series like this is that they don't have an end so they get forumlaic. Thats why I liked Eva and Elfen Lied, they had a beginning, middle and end, I bet this just turns into a grown up version of One Piece

nah it won't be that bad

i posted a bit or a rant about that on another thread but thats the nature of manga serialisation

one of the reasons eva was so good is in was made for anime not adapted from manga

not that i hate the manga of eva but the use of audio, colour the fantastic voice action and great timing is part of what makes eva so good and that doesn't translate to the manga... however the manga does give you more time to explore things... i loved the tea maing scene with shinji and rei

some anime is anime first of and some manga cross over to anime very well especially those that have a fixed run

it's a bit of a gamble

but even with anime that are not as good as the manga (for example clamp's xxxholic) at least often the voice acting is still good

for example love hina the anime is shit compared to the manga but it's still fun and there is still some great voice action and a fantastic theme

I just can't read manga to be honest. I think it's just the fact it's all in black and white (which is a shit reason I know....)

I've watched it through a couple of times now and I've still no idea.

Talking about manglobe, I've heard good things about Michiko to Hatchin with Shinichiro Watanabe of bebop fame in there somewhere. I've got the torrents grinding away right now :D

Keep thinking I should watch some gun dam but so many different shows
with that name not sure where to begin .Mahoramtic is a good show and only 2 series so not like to have to abandon life :)

any recommendations?

Noein
GitS: SAC
Serial Experiments Lain
Technolyze

and I'd take those recommendations in order the last 2 can be very hard to get into to.

I didn't like Stand Alone Complex that much, it was ok, but it was very hit and miss

I started watching Lain as well but didn't get far with it. I'll give them a whirl cheers

well if you didn't get into lain I'd skip technolyze, despite that being the closest to Ergo proxy, the whole thing is one big "huh?".

Noein is as stylish but a bit more err.. shonen than Ergo proxy? (might get told off by fellow nerds for that one), Might put you off if your going for dark, adult and clever.

Give Real Drive ago as well, though if you found SAC hit and miss youl probably feel the same and more about Real Drive.

Deary me, I'm destroying my own recommendations here. Problem is though IMO as far as dark, intelligent Sci-Fi Anime goes it's rather hard to top Ergo Proxy. Theres probably somthing I'm missing.

I didn't really try that hard with Lain, I only had 4 episodes and didn't get around to getting any more so Im still going to give it a shot

Ill go for Technolyze next then cos honestly Ergo Proxy is the most Ive enjoyed an anime for years, I love the confusingness of it.

The childishness of so much stuff does put me off a lot

I've got about 9 episodes into Elfen Lied now; I think it's really good, although it is very gory indeed but that's sort of the point, isn't it? It is a mix of the serious minded Ergo Proxy end with the kiddy FMA sort of stuff too but really enjoyable.

Isitme, you might like Gantz.
