I think eveyone needs get over this obsession of not being happy with a win unless we outplay every team we play whilst showboating for the entire match, beat them 8-0, go back to their homes, sleep with their wives, then steal all their personal possesions before burning their homes down and then leave on horseback, swords aloft, to a drunken chorus of 'Rule Britannia'.

In fairness, when any team puts 10 men behind the ball its hard to break down. It was a far better performance than when we went there under mcclaren, even though the score doesn't reflect that.
I completely agree. I think one of the main problems with England is that the team isn't that bad, it's that when we don't play like a combination of the Netherlands in 1974 and Brazil 1970, everyone immediately starts booing. It's stupid.
Just wait till Croatia! People are going to go OTT again if England don't win - regardless of what the FIFA rankings indicate - that a draw would be a good result.
I think that for every genuine England supporter, there is at least one critic - someone who is just waiting for them to fail. These people wouldn't act like that if their league team lost a game [and managers in the league have more than just a few days with the players]. They have totally unrealistic expectations - here in NI we love our team to be successful, but we don't expect it as a birthright.
I don't think Rooney is playing well enough to be in the team - but if he was left out the press and fans would go nuts.
I agree that it is unreasonable to expect anyone to win 10-0 against anyone, particularly a team adopting Andorra's tactics of sticking the whole team in their third of the pitch. However, there were too many players who performed poorly last night. There was an air of arrogance, as if they thought they only had to turn up to win heavily. The crossing was wasteful and the finishing profligate. Only Walcott and Joe Cole come out of the match with any credit.
If we lose in Croatia, Capello will find himself under a lot of pressure even sooner than McClaren did. Personally I think we should go there, play 4-5-1 and go for a goalless draw.
