Loads of bands were too scared to play in N.Ireland when the Troubles were on but fearless notables (who I went to see) included:

Thin Lizzy (1st ever gig!)
Dr John (in a tiny venue in Belfast - he jammed with a local blues band and played guitar behind his head)
Dave Gilmour (small hall 1983ish)
Stranglers
Pink Floyd
Taj Mahal
TomTom Club
John Martyn
Lloyd Cole & the Commotions
Roy Harper
Budgie
Lindisfarne (never seen so many Drug Squad sniffing round one gig)
The Sugarcubes
Motorhead
Hawkwind

My brother saw "Musical Youth" sometime in the 80s but it was couple of years after "Pass the Dutchie" so they were more like "Musical Adolescents" :)

Must add that the biggest wusses were "The Cult" - I bought my ticket and they cancelled since they feared that they would be terrorist targets. Wild men of Rock 'n' Roll? Bollocks!

I've missed loads out but what I can remember off the top of my head...

It's quite dull doing this isn't it?
over 300 so that's got to be a good start......................

Yeah I know it's an old thread, but I was amazed at what people could remember, long fucking lists of stuff. I can't remember nuffink, me.
What got me to this thread was I was rooting around an old box and found some ticket stubs and stuff.
All I can be sure of (thanks to the internet) is my first gig was Jefferson Airplane/Fairport Convention free gig on Hampstead Heath Sept. 4th 1968
and I saw the doors at the Roundhouse a day or so after but it was just the soundcheck I didn't see the gig. (I was 13 at the time)
>
cut to seeing bands on almost a nightly basis throughout the 70's 80's and 90's Hundreds
>
Last week I saw Patti Smith and Massive Attack at the Barclayfuckingcard event in Hyde Park. Freebies natch.

Anyway, back to my second sentence. .. ... I found this
photo6_zpslvxebsuj.jpg

and this is why I found this thread
In the summer of 1981 I was in Berlin, the Waldbuhne was just a few hundred yards up the road from the hospital, whilst on nights that summer I heard the Stones, Simon and Garfunkel and what may have been BoB Marley's last concert.

Never actually written them all down...I'll have a go
