And who have you seen?

To back up Cheesy a little for once, Nirvana played Cork back then, in the sadly departed Sir Henry's. They were supporting Sonic Youth, and every single person of a certain age in Cork claims to have been there, plus quite a few more. :D

I wouldn't even know where to start listing who I've seen...

James Brown

The Manic Street Preachers

All Seeing I

Also, a few metal bands whose names I can't remember but who my brother's mate's band supported, and a few bands of varying quality who played where I used to work:
The Human League (surprisingly good, although apparently Phil Oakey is a twat of the first order :D )
Stiff Little Fingers
Kasabian
Razorlight
The Zutons
The Thrills
Biffy Clyro

Not that many, really, even if I do remember those I'm sure I've forgotten...

I've got an evening on my own, so I was going try and make a list of all the bands I've seen to join the 'look at my huge list' people, but just thinking about it made my head spin.

I used to see 2 or 3 bands a week for a few years, then theres all the festivals and nights in clubs where bands were playing but I didn't pay much attention to who they were, the nights I was too intoxicated to remember, etc. I can't even estimate how many bands I've seen. I see less now than I used to partly because I go to more clubs than gigs and see more DJs than bands; and partly cos I'm getting old and like to spend more and more weekends just pottering about rather than going out and partying.

Lets just make it easy and say the first band I saw was the Barron Knights some time in the mid/late 70s and the last band I saw was Interstellar Fugitives last October.

I started doing this ages ago, and then stopped again cos it was stupid

Bear in mind, lots of these bands I've seen lots of times (Nick Cave, an easy 10 for example)

Madness - ah yes - I saw them play one christmas, around 2003, with my ex and his little brother. I lost the lads in the crowd and watched the gig on my own, didnt care though! :)

also, The Zutons at Glastonbury in 2003, wearing yellow boiler suits, and again, a few years later (hmmm, 2005?) wearing jazzy suits.

Next gig: Prince at Croke Park, Dublin on June 16th!:D

Never saw Kate Bush:(

JImmy Cliff I saw in a field in st Lucia, just as the sun was setting, with the sea as his backdrop. Jaw droppingly wonderful and I cried when he sang Many Rivers to Cross.:o

Ladysmith Black Mambazo were also outside, in the national park with background vocals from the frogs and crickets. Magical.
