the whole crusty ethos IS 'fuck you' - as principally demonstrated by adopting a fashion/lifestyle which puts them outside the bounds of most of society (invariably supported by mumsie and dadsy)
this was pretty well illustrated by the 'fuck yous' i heard directed towards the old women asking the stinkers to move off the steps of the church they were trying to get into this morning.
What's your problem Dubversion?
I've known loads of crusters, stayed in punk squats both here and around europe in early to mid 1980s and i think i'm pretty well qualified to describe the majority of them as wankers, losers and scumbags. Probably why these people are drawn to this subculture in the first place, no?

chico enrico said:Think not mate. I can guarantee you i have considerably more first hand experience of the anarcho-punk scene from 80-81 till the mid 1980s than you could ever hope of having had.

Like you say, people from all walks of life can be rude, antisocial or generally unpleasant. But I don't think it's a coincidence that people feel intimidated by crusties or that things have a tendancy to get damaged or stolen at squat gigs.lizzieloo said:I'M REALLY OFFENDED BY THIS...

I'll say it again, most crusties are, IME, sound. But the scene does tend to attract agressive, antisocial wankers, just like public school rubby tends to attract macho, antisocial toffs.
Some scenes appear to attract them in greater numbers than other though.Blagsta said:Every scene has agressive anti-social wankers.

Blagsta said:What bothers me about chico's post is that he is saying that all people who look like this, behave like that. Always a suspect pov. He then goes on to describe people as sub-human or lower down the evolutionary ladder. Even more suspect. Dodgy politics ahoy!

fair enough mate. when i fucked my back and neck up U75 was a good way to while away the hours so no offense intended there.
arrogance tempered by humility surely?![]()
It had never occurred to me that being a 'crusty' was a walk of life - but, now you mention it, I suppose it is.lizzieloo said:Has it not occured to you that there are people in every walk of life that are twunts? Have you never seen a city boy in a suit being rude? or lads in shirts on a friday night? or rugby players? or old ladies at jumble sales?
Is it a 'walk of life'?bluestreak said:you really are a prize fool JHE.
