Anarchism and the individual

'anarchy' means a state with no government, no rules, and no coercion

'anarchism' means to me the beliefs of a bunch of people who don't know what 'anarchy' means (and who just love getting beaten up by truncheons)

So you don't have a fucking clue then. Why not piss off and stop making yourself a) hated; and b) look like an ignorant arrogant nob, do some reading of anarchist theory, ask some questions and learn rather than tell people wrongly what they think.

Why not start a reading list thread, asking people where to begin. Then debate the issues as you come across them?

how do you know that this is what 'anarchy' and 'anarchism' means though max? really? define a label for me please.

the definition of 'anarchy' came from the dictionary

the definition of 'anarchism' came from my own seething bitterness towards people who reckon they are 'anarchists' but who don't seem to realise what 'anarchy' actually means (ie people who envision an 'anarchist secret police' to gun down paedophiles, and suchlike)

you do this so often i.e. refer to the dictionary when pushed to explain your meaning. max, the world isn't what you read about, its what you experience and therefore, learn to develop your own thinking. you're talking nonsense again unhappily. what does anything mean?

if we cannot use a dictionary to confirm what we mean by particular words, then we are not speaking the same language as each other
yet you proclaim not to believe any truth that is put in front of you? you're a maelstrom of muddled contradiction max. i'm glad we don't speak the same language tbh.

that is exactly my point, the 'majority of anarchists' don't even seem to understand what 'anarchy' actually means

If the 'majority of anarchists don't even seem to understand what anarchy actually means' - have you ever considered that it might be you that doesn't understand what it means, rather than them?

anarchy is, very simply, a state with no government, no rules, and no coercion

but try telling that to an 'anarchist' and then asking them how they would deal with paedophiles

You've come up with your own definition of 'anarchy', refuse to understand what 'anarchism' means - and then wonder why the majority of anarchists will just look at you in a bemused manner.

You've come up with your own definition of 'anarchy',

that definition comes from the english dictionary, it is *the* definition not mine

do you have an alternative definition? (specifically, one which allows for the existence of secret police to gun down paedophiles?)

You carry on believing what you want.
