An Art Experiment...

Are you using an onboard meter or external?

External meter. However, under different street lighting conditions film behaves very differently. It wouldn't simply be a matter of using a colour correction filter. The very long exposures bring things like reciprocity values into the equation also. You need to get to know how a film behaves in these conditions simply through experience.

Crispy's suggestion of a moonlit beach is a good idea. I'll be using local hills and countryside. I know exactly when and how to expose in ambient light. This shot: http://www.totalism.co.uk/LDP/j2.htm
is about perfect. Just need to practice more painting.

I'm tempted to have a shot at it myself. :)

You should do. Some great potential for your car meet shoots. A recent BMW campaign shot in the states by Two guys was done entirely by light painting. Making a name for themselves in the advertising world for not using PS effects. You should do a bit of research into that - may trigger some nice ideas.

Hey, it's my thread and I want to record everything that happens including my emotional reaction to what happens. Since I've been in Granada these people have spat at me for not giving them money after they've argued adamantly that they don't need money. They have purposely scared customers away. And, now they've stolen my phone (everything else recovered). I have built my work up here from a mere €20 in pocket start. It was fucking hard work. Surely you can understand why I was so angry?

Don't like what I have to say - don't read my threads.

I've bought some new Super Bright LED torches. They're effin' blindin' and they have a compass at the end. And they have a multicolour function which makes a small bulb in the middle fade through the entire colour spectrum.

Had a pop at it last night

and slightly more conventional waving a torch about as a fill light on long exposures

(13 secs in this case)

I want one of those! I was wondering where I might get such a device on my way home this evening.
