Amy Winehouse's new single is tops

going, going....

just been reading a bit about her and i like her style :D

describing Madonna as an "old has-been" and saying, "Kids listening to Dido thinking 'I want to be like her', make me want to vomit."

still don't like her voice though. and surely her stuff is jazz - it certainly sounds very jazzy to me.

i liked her on popworld being driven around in a car shouting soemthing along the lines of "dido must die" or "Kill dido" or something out of the window through a loudhailer at passers-by. :)

yes, PieEye, i have. honest :) and i didn't think much of it.

by the way, on the web - she's listed as a jazz singer.

nobody's saying she's not primarily a jazz singer, are they?

but the new single definitely sounds like a 60s girlgroup

glorified lounge act?

how the hell do you work that one out?

She just sounds like all the other lady-fronted jazz bar bands I happen upon occasionally during my summer drinking expeditions, she just happens to be a chart success hence the "glorified" bit. Now she's done a soul song, jolly good.

If you like it fine, I like some shite too, don't we all.

you're entitled to your opinion, but it's based on a fairly limited understanding of what she sounds like :p

I miss old popworld :(

I'm with the Pie-eyed one - heard this the other day and thought it was king! Which was especially nice as, while I always liked her style, I was never into her last album of stuff.

I couldn't believe it when her name started turning up alongside Ritchie, Bosworth etc. in the critiques of Heat culture* re. weight - I thought surely she's way too sorted to fall for that woman-hating celeb sneer shite? then I saw the pictures. She looks awful, and not in the sense that she should look better for our sakes, but in the sense that she looks about two meals away from hospitalisation.

*yes, and in Heat itself, I know, I am a loser - look, the people in my office buy it, okay?

i started a thread on this which died on it's arse:mad:

Anyways, I think the song is top. And I think she is megacool as well, I remember that popworld feature and I thought she was so much funnier, interesting and honest that you're average poptart. SO yay for Amy.

Mmmm. I might just get Flashman to download this for me to listen to, just to wind him up :p

I quite like her in a strange sort of way. That skinny pic is just  though.
