Amorphous Androgenous

Hollis

bloody furious
When I was listening to BBC Radio 6 the other night.. I heard this really fuckin' cool song by the above. Any opinions.. "utter tosh" etc. etc. ?

they're ace - a pseudonym for future sounds of london.

used to do ambient stuff, then kick started the psychedelic hippy rock revival with 'the isness'

good stuff.

I've never really taken much interest in FSOL/AA, but I heard the stuff on BBC6.

The interview was refreshing (-sounds like he's been through some radical personal changes), plus there was one of the tracks from the new album (Alice In Ultraland), and a couple short mixes using stuff from the sixties/seventies.

The mixes were okay, but IMO, what they're trying to do isn't as groundbreaking as I think Garry Cobain might think it sounds. The Earlies' Secret Broadcasts are similar, but far better. :)

New album is good, though doesn't really break any new ground. Bit more recognisably FSOL in a few samples / patches, though still very hippy.

Though that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Mind you, ave a look at the bleedin website, steady on.

no need to display your ignorance, poului.

we already feel sorry for you anyway.

:p

my tagline has already taken account of such potential comments, somewhat lessening their impact.

Foiled once again my dear fellow.

With a name like that, I wrongly assumed they were tedious goth EBM shite, not future sound of london.

Got the first album on record when it first came out and it took me a while to get into it tbh, but there are some class tunes on it. F.S.O.L used to spoil us imo with classic after classic back in the day when it was more techno/rave stuff

ah come on, this is self-indulgent toss. they're not letting any of the tracks run, they're talking over everything (in a style that makes Cheech & Chong sound like Cassavetes) and.. and..

utter cunts.

-Whoahh there!! I wasn't defending 'em!!!

It's crap, innit.

Just tuned into BBC6 for a bit. Doesn't sound a lot like anything they've released so far (which has all been good IMHO).

It's a hymn, intit.

Amorphous Androgenous/
God only wise/
In light inaccessible/
hid from our eyes/
Most blessèd, most glorious/
the Ancient of Days/
Almighty, victorious/
Thy great Name we praise.

To be honest the Amorphous Androgynous stuff is much better than the stuff they released under FSOL. I play "Tales of Ephidrina" and "The Isness/Otherness" loads still, whereas I only listen to the FSOL albums occasionally.

It's the earlier stuff that does for me, the new stuff seems a little...conventional.

Can't beat that "Tales..." album though - that was pretty early. Full of Predator samples - I listened to it before I saw the film then saw the film and figured it out.

Yeah that one's cool, a big fave of mine is Lifeforms (anyone remember the 91 late night set they did on Kiss?), that shit was wicked to fall asleep to after a hard nights smoking! :D
