Christian Slater as a pirate radio DJ upsetting the powers that be.

You beat me to it. Pump Up the Volume is only the high school I've seen that comes close to capturing my own experience of it. The film particularly hits the nail on the head with the oppressive management, obsession with SAT scores and baby boomer parents who've sold out by the 80s.

Sadly the film massively underperformed when it was released, think the title, Christian Slater image and bad marketing meant that few people realised what a gem this is -- remains one of my top ten films of all time

Yes, American high schools really do have long hallways made up of lockers. Kids in the UK luckily don't have to carry as many books around with them, us teachers hoard them instead!

Oh I watched it. All of it.

But you cannot deny there was something inherently wrong with it can you? Like it was trying to ape american high school drama without really being able to.

Come on - it was really, really shit with really, really bad acting and some of the most unconvincing baddies ever.
