Anyone mentioned Pretty in Pink yet..??

Nope.. well that has to be up there, for the great sound track & the totally scrumptious Miss Molly Ringwold..

All films with reference to high schools are preparation for American life :)

but what if the characters have already left high school and are already involved in American life (like GPB)?

st elmos fire (fine movie that it is) shouldn;t be on this thread though

Bring it On is classic.

Brings in some useful social commentary as well, with the inner city, hip hop cheerleaders from the wrong side of the tracks being morally virtuous and having their dances stolen by the preppy, grabbing, jock-fucking cheerqueens of the more affluent suburbs.

i can't believe they wouldn't watch it with me.
ps you didn't even mention the fantastic song at the start! i hear it as gabba version sometimes. then, the funniest thing in any film ever, the dancce routine the "jazz hands" guy gets them to do.

what's this thread about? are we just naming american high school films, or is there a subtlety i missed?

It's in one sense a list, to create perhaps an invaluable resource. But also a place to discuss, to deride, to debate, to debunk. All human life is here.

amaerican trashy teen films tend to do this kind of thing quite well.
