America/Israel unite in economic terrorism.

In other words poverty is relative, and in the U.S. a large 45.9% of the "poor" own their homes, 72.8% have a car and almost 77% have air conditioning, which remains a luxury in most of Western Europe. The average living space for poor American households is 1,200 square feet. In Europe, the average space for all households, not just the poor, is 1,000 square feet.

Really, enough said

A car and air conditioning aint gonna help much when they fall ill and can't actually pay for medical treatment though will it?

You materialist chump.

Oh and air conditioning is somewhat low down on the luxury list in the generally pissy climate of north west Europe, just above automatic arse wiper.

The measure of a nation's success based solely on the consumption of a handful of commodities. The poverty of those living below acceptable standards is offset by a magical number of people who own their own cars and houses...repossessions have been entirely dismissed by mears as "bad news"...he speaks your weight. Insert coin.

The trouble with mears is that he would never admit to being a racist, but the sad truth is that when it comes to certain ethnicities and nationalities, he is less accomodating than he is with the Israelis.

He doesn't like the French or the Chinese much either, btw.

The point being Americans are challenged on geography? Uh, yes they are as this survey finds. Its pretty sad. I can admit it. But can you admit the US has a higher standard of living than Europe?

No way baby

Smug ignorant fool.

I've said many times that by your standards people are on average materially better off, but that doesn't disprove that 37 million Americans live "below the poverty line", does it?

nino gives you too much credit, you're not even as flexible in your ability to think as a speak-your-weight machine.

Please take the time to read what I write, I don't think its much to ask if we are going to converse. In an earlier statement I called the Israeli state a Parasite. Go back and read it.

I don't know anything about this organization, but I would venture a guess they are not into equating the Israeli state with parasites.

"But what about equality? Well, the percentage of Americans living below the poverty line has dropped to 12% from 22% since 1959. In 1999, 25% of American households were considered "low income," meaning they had an annual income of less than $25,000. If Sweden--the very model of a modern welfare state--were judged by the same standard, about 40% of its households would be considered low-income."

Please, a source for these rather questionable statistics would be welcomed. Furthermore your method of measurement is based on narrow criteria...itself designed by people who would deny that poverty exists.

America's poor do not agree with you. Poverty is not relative and it is not something to be lightly dismissed - as you have done here. but then what would you know of poverty? Have you ever had to decline medical treatment because you don't have the right kind of insurance. America's poor are constantly in that situation; and when I talk about "America's poor" I include all those who are on low wages, working two or more jobs in order to survive...unlike you - eh, white bread? You can sit smugly in your ivory tower and declare that "poverty is relative" but then tedious number crunchers like you are blind to the realities of life.

But then you are a Randist and Randists have some peculiar ideas on people and poverty.

And again dude, post up something to refute or explain your position on relative poverty, or any other economic comarison between Europe and the US.

Oh wait, we have been there. You can't do it!

Why are you such a sucker for punishment?

By the way, American double-standards and hypocrisy occur far more often than in the rest of the world most Americans have no idea exists...

Could you actually even pick Israel out on a map of the world without it being labelled...?
Look, if you piss us off, we learn where you are. If you haven't, well then maybe not yet. Don't be in such a hurry to get on our list.

Proof please...also how was this 'survey' measured? And what does one mean by "standard of living" as opposed to the quality of life?

If it is decided purely on the amount of goods people consume, then it is a bogus standard; no better than a mirage.

Looks like our American friends are engaging in a "We're better offthan you" circle-jerk.

Is this how you folks measure people? According to their standard of living? How quaint.

It hasn't changed much from yesterday's shite.

All they can do is wave their willies about.

I found these same stats on numerous sites, find me something different. I can give you the best 10 cities in the world to live in, if you want.

Oh wait, it's already been posted. Along with a discussion of quality of life and other factors, iirc.

Dude! When you're some French retiree and you are dying of heat prostration in some suburban rest home, there is nothing that will save you. Nothing.

Well just one link would be fine...just one...then I would like to establish how these statistics were obtained.

The simple truth is the USA does not like to admit it has a large body of people who are living in poverty. Of course this illusion was shattered with the arrival of Hurricane Katrina.

Give me what you consider to be acceptable criteria and I shall find you the appropriate link.

(I thought you knew how to use search engines  )

edit: oh yes, please include a list of sites that you find credible, wouldn't want to upset you by linking into one of "those" sites.

Stop trying to be evasive. You posted up the text (without a reference), ergo it is incumbent upon you to provide the supporting evidence.

You really shouldn't say "we" when you're far too cowardly to ever physically participate.

I already did post something up.

It's odd how everyone else except you acknowledges that fact, but hey, you wouldn't be able to delude yourself any longer if you acknowledged it, would you? After all, it's on that same thread where you accused me of plagiarism, and every time that gets mentioned you go quiet, because the thread shows you up for the amoral little turd that you are.
