Ambient Picnic 08/07/07

Hmmm... just checking how to get a train to Epsom from London. How easy is it to get from Epsom station to the site? Is it just a short taxi ride or walkable?

this Sunday, the sun *should* be shining, the lab horns are primed and Epsom is bracing itself

Definitely up for this now, most forecasts suggesting pleasant weather on Sunday for the SE ...

pay on the day and there's buses running from Epsom station to the actual showground :)

Nice... if the weather is fine, this is looking like a great idea.

and Ewell West, if that helps anyone :)

it's a free bus too btw.

Epsom is only 25-30mins from Clapham Junction on Sundays.

Was reading in my Mum's local paper (part of Surrey Ad group) that this is aimed at 13-19 year olds!

you sure that article is not on about the Saturday?

there is a EMO Teen Rockfest being put on as part of the funding on Saturday.

This is definitely not for teh kids. well not for the kids alone. it's for everyone mmmaaannnn :D

Maybe it was, I have been quite a few times before but not for at least five years and it was ok. I was a bit surprised when I read that in the paper.

I don't like the look of the BBC forecast for Epsom:

But the BBC are always getting it wrong, so I don't know what to do. Grrr

I like the look of today's weather in Guildford though:

Erm...

Temps have fluctuated! At one point they promised 24C, now only 19C. But never mind, there should be some sunshine :)

I'll be setting out before long .... :)

That was a great afternoon  Mostly spent time outside the dance tent with WoW and friends from that real-life place ;)

Surprised there weren't more people at the picnic, there certainly deserved to be.

The cider was lovely, although I felt pretty defeated after two pints. What was it, 3.3% or something? I really am a lightweight :D

Whoever was in charge of advertising and marketing that event should be shot.

It was grand but seeing bands being watched by three men and a dog was a bit sad. I blame the enterance fee myself. No hordes of teenagers as a result. The dance tent had excellent bass and the sun was hot the dope strong and the vibe chilled.

Good to see WoW and Skim and Xan there. Cute tootsies Xan!!:)

I know I was very stoned but the policing was the best I have seen in years. Three cops on site, the smallest three cops I have ever seen. The one in charge was 5 foot 2 in his socks. I really had to resist the temptation to run over and pick him up and leg it. :D

Maybe the Surrey constabulary keeps a special crack team of mini-cops for small events like the Ambient Picnic, reserving the bigger rozzers for more taxing work like riots and shoot-outs...
