Am I getting old/out of touch?

Don't listen to the radio
Don't watch TV
Only bother with the freesheets for the sudoko - no other papers
I've pretty much cut myself free from mainstream culture and news - off the internet anyway. On the net, I can control what I want to see :)

I watched a film with my gf over the weekend and when she pointed out that one of the actors was Johnny Depp, I could honestly say that I had never seen the blokes face before.

Is that out of touch?

That's just impossible.

Mind you, he is a very good actor, as well as a dish, so maybe you just didn't recognise him in that part.

Hven't you seen Edward Scissorhands?

I've just found out that a tune called Umbrella by Rhianna has been number 1 for 10 weeks, yet I've not heard of it AFAIK. Does this mean I'm too old?

catch up grandad

eta: I saw it on Live Earth and she was rubbish. other than that my knowledge of it comes from readding BBC News.

I also have suffered this. I don't care.

"Good Evening, I'm from Essex - in case you couldn't tell"

Can you record the charts on these ipods?

you could download them, to get the top 40 would cost about £30, not like the old days when a cassette would take them all for a couple of quid

and they call it progress:mad:

I know it's been number one for ages. But I've never heard it.

The only music radio I listen to is people who's opinions I respect talking about and playing music that there's a good chance I'm gonna like. Other than that it's Radio 4 all the way.

I do like to read papers though - and thats how I know about this umbrella song.

I'm 26 btw.

plus, you used to have to edit out all the voices of the djs, i don't want to hear you kid fucking jensen:mad:

You could listen-again to the chart rundown and rip it as an MP3 to stick on your ipod.

Or

You could just nick the songs you like with soulseek or Kazaa or whatever. This is the modern day equivalent of the clunky, taped off the radio, press play and record (and pause) then let off pause the second Mark Goodyear shuts the fuck up tapes of old.

You see I have started to buy CD's again because I am never happy with the rips and compressions of downloaded music. Is that old gittish enough?

I said "I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THE COMPRESSION RATIO!"

I think you might be right.

I have seen Edwards Scissorhands, yes.:)

I had not heard the song, heard of the artist or had any idea of ANYTHING that is happening in the charts for years....
