Am I an idiot?

Is Tommers a (soon to be poor) idiot?

Last night, in a drunken moment, I bet two of my friends £10 each that robbie fowler would not score 6 goals in all competitions over the rest of the season.

do you think that was a good bet or not?

I can see him scoring more than six, we create shedloads of chances at home but our problem has been tucking them away, imo he'll be brought on for the last 10-20 minutes, plus he'll be raring to go.

Yup reckon he will score a few ...a renaissance as it were, think he will be the coup of the season, unless he breaks a leg as I'm hoping ;)

now, come on... it's not cut and dried surely?

liverpool have 17 league games left. plus 2 champion's league (at least).

no fa cup (cos he's cup tied)

will he be a first team regular?

his injury record is pretty bad since he left liverpool....

over the last five years he has started 103 games, come on as sub 34 times and scored 47 goals.

no league-cup and he can't play in FA Cup as he's cup-tied, but Champions League and Premiership should be enough to get 6 between now and May.

I guess now he gives a shit again he might actually try.

Personally I hope not because I loathe him :)

I would expect him to score at least 6 goals by May. However, as pointed out, it depends how much he plays. He's prone to scoring hattricks so two good games and you're £20 down. Overall, I would expect you to be paying up but the Liverpool factor** may yet strike again.

**Where a good/excellent player joins Liverpool and immediately has a shocking dessertion of form - eg Diouf, Morientes, Cisse.

Sorry mate, i frequently agree with you, but I have to say you have been misguided here... He will easily get 6

hehe, yeah, it started as "more than 10 goals", but eventually went down to "more than 6".

then they resorted to name calling in order to make it "6 or more" :(

yeah, I am beginning to think the same. :(

I'm going to be very interested to see if he starts against birmingham.

if he's restricted to substitute appearances then I may be alright.

i think its unlikely he will score a total of exactly six goals. so long as that was how you phrased your bet you should be fine.

True... to a large extent it depends on how much back to full fitness he gets. If he gets that back pretty quickly he will bang them in since, as others have pointed out, Liverpool are creating tons of chances, they just have been lacking that kind of striker to score them. On the other hand as a bit part - I'm not so sure.

On a different note, will Ashton be ready to play against the Arse tomorrow?

apparently so.

of course, i would never have taken that bet against ashton.

I bet someone at the start of the season (before he'd scored at all) that Peter Crouch would score at least 10 goals this season. I was laughed at. I think i'm on for the money though!

Peter Crouch has been much maligned.I think he is a very good player.

I was suprised when Liverpool paid £7m for him last summer even though he caught my eye while scoring frequently for a struggling Southampton.

Crouch and Fowler up front could work.

I don't really like Fowler and was relieved when Arsenal backed out from buying him some years ago.

one game down. no goal, although he did have it in the back of net. :( but it was disallowed :D

let's see how he does against chelsea....

and he's not even in the squad! that's put the cat amongst the pigeons! 2 games down. no goals. :D

Looks like a close one to me. He's not gonna start all 17 Premiership games, maybe 10, should be enough to net him 4 or 5 goals, then it depends on the Champions league.

five games, no goals. :)

although he did stay on for 75 mins last night, and started the last game too. that's rather worrying.

Cool your boots man. Last night was his 4th appearance ;) :

Birmingham (H) - Last 30 mins as sub
Chelsea (A) - Not in squad
Charlton (A) - Last 30 mins as sub
Wigan (A) - Subbed after 66 mins
Arsenal (H) - Subbed after 80 mins

There's 12 league games left and potentially 7 CL games. I think he needs to score 1 or 2 in the next 5 games or your bet could be safe. He looked sharper last night.

Fingers crossed.

yeah, but the team have played five of the original 17. that's what matters, we're five games closer to the finishing line. :)

you're right though, he did look a bit sharper last night. he might surprise me and play most of the rest of the games, which would probably spell the end of my heroic tilt at popular opinion. :D

ah well, better to have bet and lost than never to have bet at all.

hang on, that's not right....

Has he scored yet? That six goals is starting to look like a bit of a task...

Not yet. :(

I can see a couple against Benfica next Wednesday though and at least one in the derby. That will do for starters. The sixth will come in the European Cup Final as Barca are put to the sword and I win the lottery on the same night and my cheque is presented by Natalie Portman who then marries me and our children......... oh bugger. It was all a dream

:D no more champions league for liverpool, no more opportunities for fowler.

10 games left.
