    Byron Lee has been going for more than 50 years, so it's quite possible he had a recent celebration. Curiously, even though Byron Lee is well respected in Jamaica, the Dragonaires were always seen as a bit of an uptown show band as opposed to bands like the Skatalites or the Baba Brookes band which had a more rootsy downtown following

    A lot of the early Jamaican musicians (pre-ska) came from places like Trinidad because the Jamaican mento music was very calypso. And quite a few of them migrated to Canada in the very early days. Trinidadian ska guitarist Lynn Taitt, for example, still lives and works there
