alternative christmas day breakfast

It's £300+ to get it slaughtered and butchered. Today I have to pay them for 3 lambs and a cow which doesn't leave much change from £450.

And if you feed pigs any veg clippings or kitchen waste these days you can go to prison for 2 years

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!

The last pig I sent on (in about Sept, I think), cost about £20 to be slaughtered, and £30-ish for butchering (woulda been loads more if I'd have wanted hams/bacon/sausages making/slicing). Do you have to pay transport or do you drop em at the abbotoir? Its not like I'm a big pig producer either, we grow about 8 weaners a year in two batches. I live in quite an 'expensive' part of the country, too. I think you are being diddled somewhere.

Oh, and we get round the clippings thing by getting them from a market stall holder who trims them on site, thus, they have never been in anywhere near a kitchen and thus don't contravene any legislation. ;)

Yes, kippers, eggs, fresh orange juice, good white bread & butter. :)

Oi, that's MY family tradition breakfast! Strong hot tea, boil in bag kippers and them amazing part baked rolls from Lidle with the different seeds on the top.

You get to burp kippers for the rest of the morning ..... Yummy
