Couldn't have predicted that :D

For once he's right tho. Perhaps you could explain to me the appeal of AMC. I got one of their CDs out of my local library once because I kept reading how good they are. Played it a few times and thought it was just middle of the road plod. Very bland. Why are they so highly regarded? It's a mystery to me.

Well I'll certainly add another vote for the Godfather of the Genre... Gram Parsons...

Oh and someone actually alive and making records? Laura Cantrell www.lauracantrell.com has a couple of tracks from various albums available for download

Gillian Welch
Laura Cantrell - first two LPs good, third is a bit overproduced IMHO
Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker (yes, he's an idiot but...)

Nanci Griffith - One Fair Summer Evening (live LP)

I rate California as one of my all time favourite albums of all time. Oh well, wrong again :( :( :(

boooooooooooooooooring.

and not really (alt) country either
Heckler to Mark Eitzel at a solo gig: "Rock me man!"
Mark Eitzel: "No. But I will folk you."

Well it got some laughs.

I think they're great.

Yep, I have their album on one of my harddisks somewhere. They are a bit rockier than Slobberbone if i recall. I like Slobberbone for Brent Best's amazing ballads. Shame they split earlier this year. :(

Brent and acouple of others from Slobberbone are now in THE DRAMS...they played the Borderline a couple of months ago but I couldn't go

A couple not mentioned before on this thread: Richmon Fontaine and then I give you the trump of trumps....also from Denton, Texas, ladies and ladies, I give you:

LIFT TO EXPERIENCE...so fucken out there in a gospel rock country blues explosion but they only ever did one album

Front man Josh T Pearson played the Windmill last month...easily one of the most amazing things I've seen. Also 11 out of 10 for beard...
