Alonso - what a w*nker

Alonso is a great driver but a bad, bad loser.

He's not made many friends this weekend.

Would BMW want him next year? They've got two very quick drivers at the moment, I'd have a guess and say that Alonso earns a lot more than Kubica and Heidfeld combined.

An interesting season to say the least.

also not doing his career much good.

good driver or not would you really want someone with that attitude if he doesnt get what he wants on your team? I wouldnt.

I can only see Alonso going to Ferrari if anywhere else.. with Raikonen.. but to be fair the rift gave some drama to the weekends proceedings.. the race wasn't up to much (I think).. I fell asleep on the sofa at Lap 3 and woke up on the last lap.. not much had changed :D

It's all fixed init. Fucking boring.

Can anyone tell me why Kimi Raikkonen waited until the very last lap to show how much faster he could have been than anyone else?

I'll listen to argument about aerodynamics and over taking problems, but Kimi Raikkonen was over a second faster than Hamilton on the last lap after trailing him by half a second for 20 plus laps. Surely he could have done it earlier.

Last lap times:

Hamilton - 1:21.164
Raikkonen - 1:20.047

Hamilton's fastest lap was around 1:20.330 IIRC.

Fuck boring compared to the days of René Arnoux and the like :D

Second what you say there, why would they want a prima donna driver when they've got guys who performed vwery well today and an improving design team. I've no doubt that someone would scoop up Alonso, but it would be one of the top three teams, they are already in a good enough position. Lewis would be enough to carry the team provided they keep a competent enough driver to support him so that most of the pack aren't applying pressure to him and they get enough team points to secure the constructors championship

Hamilton was the first to break team orders mind. Bit of a prima himself. To big for his boots and way over protected by the whole F1 management. He's good for F1 and he knows it. He isn't the best driver in the field by a long shot. Four or, Five could be better.

At least his reasoning that he had to make a split second decision is more reasonable than Alonso's who just fucked about to cause hassle at a moment when the team didn't have ANY leeway.

I reckon the 'teams' have remote speed limiting devices these days. It's no more than Scalectrix on billion dollar budgets. Bet a million that they at very least have a remote engine cut out button.

It's all bollocks. Why isn't there any over taking these days?

Alonsogate

I can't tell if the trainer looks pleased with himself or scared though

Apparently McLaren are appealing the stewards' decision.

Props for the links.

The middle one was especially interesting. Looks very much like Alonso's trainer was playing gamesmanship and Ron Dennis - quite rightly - reminded the little dick-head he's fucking about with something that has huge personal and financial consequences.

Read the readers comments in The Times today. Most of them from very unhappy Spanish readers. The gist is: Alonso is the greatest driver in the history of Earth, from whom all good things come, and who is being visciously cheated by Hamilton and dumped on by McLaren. Hamilton - El trampas - is a cheat, riding on Alonso's coat tails, should respect the world champion as team leader, is no longer welcome in Spain. All of which is amusing.

All in all, Alonsogate seems very thin beer. It's a pity the team got penalised for one its drivers fucking over the other one. But I doubt it will make much difference to the constructors' championship.

edt: race was as dull as ditchwater

You really haven't got a clue, have you? :D

So does common sense...Lewis, Alonso, Kimi, Massa and Kubica are probably the most naturally talented.

After that you have Heidfeld not far behind with Button, Barichello, Schumacher, Trulli, Webber, DC, Sato, Davidson, Kovalaien, Fisi.

The rest it's hard to tell - I'm sure Sutil and Vettel are destined for big things but their cars are absolute dogs.

I read an article the other week where a journalist was describing seeing Hamilton racing karts as a kid - he (the journo) turned up at the track and asked which one was lewis, the reply was something along the lines of "two things make him easy to spot - one, he's the only black kid here, and two, he'll be about 2 laps in front of everyone else" :D

On some of those Youtube links there are racist comments about Hamilton. Looks like the disease goes a bit beyond Aragones in that country.

alonso hasn't done himself any favours
That's just a load of spin(no pun intended :( ) coming from the UK press though, alonso was saying that hamilton initiated the complaint to the stewards and had a go at dennis about it - this after breaking the rules himself....

There's a pretty sensible explanation for this; when it came to the last lap Raikkonen could more afford to gamble and knew he had to. Also, less fuel. Meanwhile, Hamilton only has to do enough.

Mansell, Jordan etc...

Anyone gonna go to the press and talk about how Hamilton should not make the situation political

All this nearly makes Ferrari seem like honest chaps and good sports :)

The main reason is this stupid 2-race rule for the engines, it means that the drivers don't force things until it's late in the race because they want to preserve their starting position for the next race

Looking forward to the race on Sunday loads...

According to LH the boys are friends again but I reckon it is gonna be an exciting race with a lot of treading on eggshells!!
