My brothers still got his N64 but he's lost his copy of Goldeneye. Fuckssssake.

Millitary Laser in Elite

Military lasers are the very height of sophistication. Costing fifteen times the price of a pulse laser and available only on planets at Tech level 10, it is an extremely effective piece of hardware. (See also Mining lasers under Non-Combative Equipment)

Military Laser Specification: Range and penetration twice as effective as the Ingram Model M1928A2 beam laser. This is Lance & Ferman's entre into the laser market. Hitherto known for their highly effective and relatively cheap missile systems, in the military laser they have in effect created a whole new laser market. The LF90 is the current computer-aided model and comes with x4SUSAT sights.

Ah yes, I remember those! Ahh the good old days when games were games and not a bunch of overpriced polygons!

Heh, proxy mines in Perfect Dark were damned good too, especially with co-op multiplayer,

P1: Did you mine this tunnel?
P2: Yeah, but some bots cleared it out and got killed - look, pick up that gun they dropped!
P1: *runs forward*

BOOM
P1: You cunt!
P2: :D

I'm remindered of Spy vrs Spy and setting booby traps. Ah what fun that was tricking someone into a coconut bomb etc.

Not sure if it can be put in. BUT! Astoroths super mental axe in soul calibur 2.(thanatos???) The one where you hit someone and get the energy you inflicted added to your health bar.

I had so many class fights with me as asteroth and mate as nightmere with his silly sword. LOVE IT!!!

In almost all games the rocket launcher is the don.

but lets talk about the best.

im going for the gravity gun from half life 2.

and you?

Used to love the BFG in Q2, never been a big fan of the grav gun but yeah I naturally gravitate toward rocket launchers in any game that has them too...

Can echo the sentiments expressed to the RCP10 in Goldeneye. The mechanical screech of death. But let us not forget the Klob. Considered the worst weapon in Goldeneye there was nothing more satisfying than Klobbing an opponent to death to prove your complete mastery of all Goldeneye weapons. My personal favourite was one shotting with the AR10 (m16 type one) as it was dead hard.

Also the Flak 88 in Company of Heroes is awsome. Especially if you plant a machinegun nest and a bunker nearby to mow down any pesky infantry assaults on it. Pure carnage as it blasts your opponents to smithereens!!

Not to mention multiplayer with power weapons, especially in the caverns - quick blast from the RPC will go through a door and total the dude who's trying to kill you

Killing someone with the double klobb was ridicuously satisfying; killing someone with a klobb in multiplayer was such a rare event that we turned it into a drinking game - if someone took you out with one, you had do down as many fingers as the number of kills you made in the game.

Build 88
Surround with sandbags (with a small opening plugged with barbed wire for when your pioneers need to repair it)
Bunker on each corner
Barbed wire around all that
Tank traps to stop enemy tanks driving up to it and knocking down all these defences

Takes a while to set up, but makes it nearly impregnable to almost every sort of assault; if you get the sandbags close enough to the 88, you don't get splash damage from artillery so even a howitzer barrage won't destroy it. Barbed wire around the complex means pesky airborne troops can't get close enough to use satchel charges  My fave tactic is to build it quite far back; let the allies think they're winning by keeping your reinforcements held back or at the flanks, they'll generally attack with a tank phalanx using artillery and airborne on your fortifications. As soon as their tanks get within attack range, the 88 will start to pummel them, they'll drop a bunch of paratroopers on it - keep a squad of Iron Cross dudes or an MG42 nearby if you don't have the bunkers yet - and will either retreat or persist when their tanks start getting fucked. Then just bring in your tank STuG reserves, finish off the tanks and use pioneers with flamethrowers to finish them off :)

Doesn't always go according to plan, admittedly... :D

Having played a moderate-to-stupid amount of halo over the last week or so, I would like to add the Energy Sword to this list, as it is made of win and R-trigger lunge instakill.

Desert Eagle in Max Payne 2. You can have two at once.

Also the Gravity Gun, and the energy ball weapon in HL2 is ace as well.

The Vortex Mine in the wonderful XCOM:Apocalypse was great too. BOOOM! The Entropy Gun that the aliens use was shit scary though.

Re: CoH

good tip on the sandbags. I usually let them waste manpower on Airbourne as MG42s mow them down.

I had a crazy situation with an 88 being artied and callopied over and over.. there was nothing they could do.. I had a bunker just out of range with volks and engies wating to repair and re-crew

Especially good if you set it up miles away from a choke point.. Sherman trundles along then BAM!! With a flak 88 on the field players go nuts trying to kill it. allowing for sneaky flanking manoeuvre's :D I rarely go T3 with Terror.. oops.. CoH nerd speak

Probably the BFG from quake

Does anyone remember those nutty swedish guys who played quake 3 arena on every drug known to man and wrote a website about it?

They said that on coke even the standard gun felt like the BFG :p

Two guns in Perfect Dark, the one where you could be the missile, for piss taking purposes, and the long range grenade launcher. Actually being able to nick someone's weapon and kill them with it was pretty cool too.

MG42's mow down everything that isn't totallyed by the 88 :D

There's one map, Rails and Metal I think, where there are some hills just forward of your base that give your 88 access to half the damn battlefield, including a handful of chokes - the range on those things is incredible! Love the sound when it fires as well - if you're allies, you know you're about to get fucked when you hear that sound.

Defensive + Terror for the win :)
